Horticulture production in Kenya is a big business that has potential to expand its market outside our borders. But how can we improve the quality of our produce to meet the requirements of some prime markets. Read some of the answers to this question in one of the articles recently published in African Journal of Food, Agriculture, Nutrition and Development by one of our FoSTeP members. Also share your answers to this question.

Everytime we make plans or set objectives, we are faced with a lot of uncertainities. There are many unseen risks involved. To steer clear from them we need to determine causes and magnitude of the risk. For example, if a food is contaminated with Salmonella, what is the likelyhood you will get sick or die? If you cook the food how much have you reduced the risk?
So to help us answer these and more questions, FoSTeP-K is glad to host a short seminar on Risk Analysis tomorrow at University of Nairobi Upper Kabete Campus from 10 am to 12 pm. We are also privileged to host Will Van der Merwe from Palisade Corporation United Kingdom, developers of who will talk in depth about Risk Analysis methods. We therefore invite you to attend the seminar. As Food Scientists we have a lot to learn because we are constantly dealing with pathogens and food borne diseases.
