In many informal settlements, children face daily challenges that limit their exposure to learning opportunities beyond the classroom. That’s why after school reading programs are not just helpful they are essential.

Book reading nurtures imagination, builds confidence, and strengthens language and communication skills. It opens doors to new worlds, ideas, and possibilities that many children may not otherwise experience. Through stories, children learn problem-solving, empathy, and critical thinking skills that shape their future both in and out of school.

After-school reading spaces also provide a safe and supportive environment where children can spend their time productively, away from negative influences. With access to books and guided mentorship, they develop a love for learning that stays with them for life.

Let’s continue investing in reading programs and ensuring every child, regardless of where they come from, has the chance to dream, learn, and grow.
