Building TVET Capacity Across Somalia Through Strategic Partnership and Skills Development
KSTVET is proud to host the first cohort of TVET trainers from Hargeisa (Somaliland) and Mogadishu (Federal Government of Somalia) in Kenya for a 10-day capacity-building programme designed to address priority gaps identified through the Training Needs Assessment (TNA) conducted in April 2026.
Bringing together TVET trainers, the European Union (EU), GIZ Somalia, and KSTVET leadership, this initiative marks an important milestone in strengthening the quality and relevance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training across Somalia. The programme focuses on enhancing trainers' competencies in Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) delivery methodologies, strengthening technical skills, and integrating green skills in key sectors such as agriculture and renewable energy.
This training forms part of a broader EU and GIZ Somalia-supported programme that aims to build the capacity of 130 TVET trainers drawn from Somaliland, the Federal Government of Somalia, Puntland, Jubaland, and other regions. By equipping trainers with modern, industry-responsive teaching approaches and sustainability-oriented competencies, the programme contributes to creating a more skilled workforce capable of meeting current and future labour market demands.
KSTVET extends its sincere appreciation to the European Union, GIZ Somalia, our Chief Executive Officer, facilitators, and all stakeholders whose commitment and collaboration continue to make this initiative a success. Together, we are advancing quality TVET, fostering regional cooperation, and empowering trainers to transform the lives of learners and communities across Somalia.

HAPPENING NOW 📌 KSTVET MOIBEN CAMPUS
Today, the Kenya School of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (KSTVET) is holding the dedication and blessing of its institutional infrastructure alongside the End-of-Term Thanksgiving and Closing Service at the Moiben Campus Dining Hall.
The service is being led by the Bishop Dr. Christopher Ruto and attended by the CEO, Dr. Tarno, the Director of Academics and Student Welfare, the Director of Research, the Director of Moiben Campus, Heads Agriculture and environmental department members of staff, and trainees.
The occasion marks a moment of gratitude, reflection, and commitment as the KSTVET community celebrates God's blessings and looks forward to continued growth and excellence.

🎓 KSTVET Moiben Campus: Expanding Access to Quality TVET Trainer Education
The Kenya School of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (KSTVET) proudly celebrates the successful operationalization of its Moiben Campus in Uasin Gishu County. Since opening its doors on 11th May 2026, the campus has welcomed its first cohort of trainees, marking a major step towards strengthening TVET trainer education and supporting Kenya's skills development agenda.
As a constituent campus of KSTVET, Moiben Campus is dedicated to training, retooling, and upskilling TVET trainers and educators, ensuring the delivery of quality, industry-responsive technical and vocational education across the country.
The campus currently offers programmes in Health and Applied Sciences, Agriculture and Environmental Studies, and Liberal Studies, complemented by programmes offered at the Main Campus in Gigiri, Nairobi. Together, these programmes provide comprehensive preparation for current and future TVET educators.
With modern classrooms, laboratories, computer labs, a lecture theatre, library, hostels, and dining facilities, Moiben Campus provides a conducive environment for learning, research, innovation, and professional growth.
KSTVET remains committed to empowering TVET trainers, advancing Competency-Based Education (CBE), and producing highly competent educators who will drive Kenya's socio-economic transformation through skills development.

On 20th June 2026, members of the Kenya School of TVET Christian Union visited the Bible on the Ground Camp in Nanyuki for a spiritual retreat that focused on mental and emotional wellbeing. The program created a space where students could relax, reflect, and connect through fellowship, mentorship, and team-building activities.
The visit aimed to strengthen faith as a source of resilience, encourage genuine fellowship, build leadership skills, and promote teamwork among members. All these aspects play an important role in supporting students’ mental health and helping them cope with academic and personal challenges.
During the retreat, participants took part in worship sessions, Bible study, prayer, group discussions, an engaging talk, and interactive team-building activities. These moments allowed students to open up, support one another, and grow both spiritually and personally.

KSTVET’s External Assessors TP Induction Workshop, officially opened by the CEO, is currently underway from 8–10 June 2026.
This three-day workshop brings together External Assessors for targeted capacity building aimed at strengthening quality assurance in TVET, with a particular focus on Technology-Enabled Teaching Practice Assessment (TeTPA). As assessment systems evolve, the integration of eTP is transforming how teaching practice is evaluated, promoting efficiency, transparency, and evidence-based decision-making.
Through structured training, standardization exercises, and hands-on practice, participants are enhancing their competencies in conducting credible, consistent, and industry-aligned assessments. The workshop also emphasizes the use of digital tools to support reliable data capture, objective evaluation, and improved moderation processes.
KSTVET’s continued investment in assessor development reflects its commitment to upholding integrity, fairness, and excellence in assessment. By strengthening both traditional and technology-enabled approaches such as TeTPA, the Council is advancing a robust quality assurance framework that ensures assessment outcomes accurately reflect competence.
This initiative is a significant step toward enhancing the credibility, relevance, and global competitiveness of TVET qualifications in Kenya.

KSTVET was delighted to host a monitoring visit from the UNESCO Regional Office and the Project Implementation Unit under the Leadership for Education for Sustainable Development, LEAD ESD, programme, implemented in partnership with Kenyatta University.
The LEAD ESD initiative is being implemented across Kenya, Rwanda, and Seychelles, bringing together institutions committed to embedding sustainability in education and training.
The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the progress made at KSTVET following the successful completion of an intensive online training programme, from September 2025 to February 2026, by eight trainers. As part of the programme, participants were required to design and implement a sustainability change project, and KSTVET proudly focused on textile waste management.
During the visit, the monitoring team engaged with staff, reviewed ongoing activities, and observed firsthand how sustainability has been integrated into training and institutional practices. The team expressed great appreciation for KSTVET’s efforts and commended the institution for embracing practical, innovative approaches to environmental sustainability.
The textile waste management project stood out as a strong example of how TVET institutions can contribute to sustainable development, by promoting resource efficiency, creativity, and environmental responsibility.
