Aviation College The East African School of Aviation is a premier aviation training institution in Africa.

It is a Division and the training institution of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA). Established in 1954, the East African School of Aviation is the oldest aviation training institute in East Africa and was first situated at the then Eastleigh Airport Nairobi now Moi Air Base (a military airport). It then moved to the Wilson Airport Nairobi under the auspices of the East African Community w

here it remained until the collapse of the first EAC in 1977 and moved in 1985 through funding by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), to its current 87-acre premises at Embakasi near the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). In July 1963 the operations of EASA was entrusted to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Training Mission and the name changed to East African Common Services Organization (EACSO) School.Â It later changed its name to the East African School of Aviation and was run by the Directorate of Civil Aviation. EASA was charged with offering training for the then Directorate of Civil Aviation (DCA) personnel in Air Traffic Control, Aeronautical Engineering and Telecommunications, and Aviation Security (AVSEC) for the Aerodromes Department (now the Kenya Airports Authority) of the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The establishment of KCAA as a state corporation in 2002 accorded EASA the opportunity to execute its mandate as an aviation training institution more professionally, in line with world best practices. The School is now directing its efforts towards meeting the current and potential aviation training needs of its local and global clients. The 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗿, 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 (𝗥𝗔𝗦), 𝗗𝗿. 𝗢𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗶, graced the closing ceremony of the 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 (𝗤𝗠𝗦) 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 at the 𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗔 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀 (𝗘𝗪𝗔𝗖).

The course brought together 𝟭𝟮 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 representing 𝗞𝗖𝗔𝗔/𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗔 (𝟲), 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝟭), 𝗘𝘀𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗶 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗔𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝟭), 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 (𝟭), 𝗢𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘆 𝗔𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝟭), 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟳𝟰𝟴 𝗔𝗶𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 (𝟭), reflecting the diverse participation and collaboration within the aviation sector.

The 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗔), 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗵 𝗪𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗸𝗶, in her capacity as 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮 𝗔𝗶𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗞𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗔), held an engagement with the 𝗞𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗔 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the newly constituted Executive Board to introduce themselves and engage with the Patron on matters of mutual interest.

Key discussions focused on the 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻'𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻, as well as opportunities for 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗞𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗔 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗔 in areas that support the professional development of Air Traffic Controllers and the advancement of aviation in Kenya.

EASA looks forward to strengthening its collaboration with KATCA in support of a safe, efficient, and professionally empowered air traffic management environment.

The 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗔), 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗵 𝗪𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗸𝗶, met with 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗡𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗶 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝘀𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, as part of efforts to inspire and prepare the next generation of aviation professionals.

During the engagement, Dr. Waitiki made a presentation highlighting 𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗢 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗢 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗿, with emphasis on the importance of 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀. She also introduced the students to EASA, its training opportunities, and its role in developing aviation talent.

As the students approach their final KCSE examinations, Dr. Waitiki encouraged them to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to excellence, reminding them that their current efforts can lay the foundation for rewarding careers in the aviation industry.

The 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗔) hosted 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝟰 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗡𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗶 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 for an educational visit aimed at enhancing their practical understanding of aviation technology.

The students were received by 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗞𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘆𝗼, 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗻, who guided them through 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗸-𝘂𝗽 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 to support their preparation for the 𝗔𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗞𝗖𝗦𝗘 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿.

The hands-on session provided the students with an opportunity to connect classroom learning with practical aviation applications while gaining valuable exposure to the training environment at EASA.

The opening ceremony was also graced by 𝗠𝗿. 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵𝘂𝗮 𝗡𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗲, 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮 𝗔𝗶𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗞𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗔).

The programme is delivered through a strategic collaboration between EASA/KCAA and EAMAC, bringing together Air Traffic Controllers from across Africa.

The AVEL programme is designed to strengthen Aviation English language proficiency among Air Traffic Controllers, enhancing effective communication, listening and speaking skills, phraseology, and operational communication in support of safe and efficient air traffic management.

𝗔𝗜𝗦 𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗢 𝟬𝟮𝟭 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦𝗘 𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗨𝗥𝗘

The 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗔), 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗵 𝗪𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗸𝗶, graced the closing ceremony of the 𝗔𝗜𝗦 𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗢 𝟬𝟮𝟭 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 at EASA.

The course brought together participants from 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗮, strengthening international collaboration and knowledge exchange in Aeronautical Information Services (AIS).

The training enhanced participants’ knowledge and skills in AIS in line with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards, supporting accurate aeronautical information management and safe, efficient air navigation operations.

EASA congratulates the participants on successfully completing the course and remains committed to advancing regional and international aviation capacity through specialized, industry-focused training.

As part of the practical learning experience, participants undertook field visits to the 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 and 𝗞𝗖𝗔𝗔 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗶 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, gaining valuable insights into SAR coordination, emergency preparedness, and operational response.

The East African School of Aviation (EASA) proudly participated in the 𝟵𝟴𝘁𝗵 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 (𝗞𝗡𝗠𝗙) 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, held at 𝗞𝗶𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗶 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗕𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗺𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘆, from 1st - 14th August 2026.

Our talented students showcased their creativity, passion, and cultural talent, with the 𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗔 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗵𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀.

The team was led by 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿, 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗮 𝗡𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝗶, whose leadership and dedication contributed to the team’s outstanding performance.
