Driving Innovation: UoN Hosts Engineering and Science Complex & FST Research Conferences
As part of the 2025 Annual Research and Innovation Week, the University of Nairobi hosted two KEY events: the Engineering and Science Complex (ESC) Research Annual Conference and the 8th Annual Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) Research and Innovation Week.
The ESC conference, held on October 21–22, 2025, brought together academia, industry, and international partners under the theme “Engineering a New Era: Pioneering Science and Technology for Societal Change.”
Keynotes presentations explored global research linkages, while UoN scholars and French collaborators shared impact stories from joint research grants and PhD mobility programs.
Running concurrently, the FST Conference (October 22–24) at Chiromo Campus themed “Advancing Frontiers: Integrating Science, Technology, and Innovation to Transform Society for a Sustainable Future” features a dynamic program of plenary sessions, student research presentations, and exhibitions.
Speaking during the opening, Prof. Sheila Okoth, Associate Dean, urged scholars to leverage partnerships to drive innovation. Prof. Leonida Kerubo-, Dean of FST, emphasized interdisciplinary collaboration across the Faculty’s research institutes, while Prof. John Maina-Wagacha –IPMO Director lauded the Faculty’s outstanding contributions to Research and Innovation Week
Together, the ESC and FST conferences showcase UoN’s commitment to knowledge creation, sustainability, and societal transformation through science, technology, and innovation.
