"The kitchen is no longer a closed space; chefs are engaged in impactful research that shapes our society."
Our Food Production Lecturer, Chef Charles Orido, proudly represented the College at the 12th International Conference on Hospitality & Tourism Management (ICOHT 2026) in Bangkok, Thailand.
Chef Orido's research presentation, "Gen Zs' Influence on Kenyan Culinary Heritage as Evidenced in Street Food Culture," earned the Best Sessional Presenter on Culture award.
The conference and session chairs commended the study for its meaningful and practical contribution to addressing real-world issues, noting that the trends highlighted in the research closely mirror experiences in Sri Lanka.
The conference brought together leading researchers, academics and industry professionals from across the globe to exchange ideas and explore innovative approaches shaping the future of hospitality and tourism.
We congratulate Chef Orido on this remarkable achievement, which reflects KUC's commitment to research, innovation and advancing hospitality and tourism education on the global stage.
