We are proud to celebrate Dr. Caroline Kiarie, who has been recognised as a thought leader in the State of PR in Africa report 2026.

"AI has moved from a peripheral tool to a core enabler of PR work. It has elevated the profession's capacity for insight-driven decision-making," she shared.

It’s inspiring to see our GSMC community contributing to such important conversations in Africa.

Over the weekend, several of our students led by Dr Caroline Kiarie attended the Women in PR Chapter International Women’s Day Dinner hosted by the Public Relations Society of Kenya. The event brought together women in PR and communications to connect, reflect, and celebrate the profession.

In the spirit of “Give to Gain,” students had the chance to interact with industry professionals and join mentorship, learning, and conversations shaping the future of strategic communications.

Event highlights included keynote remarks from Mary Muthoni, Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, the unveiling of the Trailblazing Women in PR winners, and a fireside chat with rally drivers Pauline Sheghu and Linet Ayuko.

Happy International Women’s Day! We celebrate women shaping the future of strategic communications.

Every great institution has people who hold it together, not because it's their job, but because it matters to them. At GSMC, many of those people are women.

Behind every story told, every student mentored, every idea pushed forward, a woman had a hand in it. This , we celebrate not just what our women achieve, but who they are: curious, committed, and fully themselves.

Happy International Women's Day. 💙

What does impact look like beyond the workshop?

The final day of the AGEMCS Evidence and Impact Workshop looked ahead to the future.

Discussions explored how to navigate gender, culture, and human rights responsibly and how religion, gender, and media framing shape storytelling in East Africa.

By the end of the workshop, trainers had refreshed their skills, deepened their understanding of the gender communication landscape in East Africa, and strengthened connections within the regional T.o.T Alumni network.

The event provides a platform for dialogue, exchange, and reflection on the evolving role of local journalism in democratic societies. Through discussions and shared experiences, participants are exploring current challenges facing local media and examining comparative perspectives between Africa and Germany.

Among the participants is Dean Nancy Booker, who spoke on media sustainability earlier today, contributing her insights to the conference discussions.
