On 11th September 2026, the Hekima University College Alumni Association (HUCAA) and Hekima University College (HUC) had the honour of hosting Prof. Patrick Lumumba for its first public lecture, organized as part of the National Peace Initiative.

Prof. Lumumba shared powerful reflections on Kenya’s journey towards the 2027 General Elections and our collective responsibility to promote peace, unity and national cohesion.

The public lecture also marked the official launch of the National Peace Initiative by HUCAA, in collaboration with the Centre for Research, Training and Publications (CRTP) and the Hekima Institute of Peace Studies and International Relations (HIPSIR).

We extend our sincere gratitude to Prof. Lumumba for honouring our invitation and sharing his valuable insights and wisdom. We are also deeply grateful to the entire Hekima University College community for supporting this important milestone.

A New Book Is Born!

It is with joy that we celebrate the publication of Rev. Prof. Dieudonné Mbiribindi Bahati, SJ’s new book: De la violence à l’amour : Un chemin de conversion anthropologique et théologique sous l’éclairage de René Girard.

Drawing on the thought of René Girard, this profound work explores the mechanisms of violence, rivalry, hatred and vengeance, while pointing toward another possibility: the journey from violence to reconciliation, forgiveness and love. At a time when our world desperately needs pathways to peace, this is a timely and deeply relevant contribution.

At Hekima University College, we are especially proud and grateful to have Rev. Prof. Mbiribindi as one of our regular Visiting Professors. His intellectual depth, commitment to scholarship, generous service and character as a formator make him a wonderful model for our academic community. This publication reminds us that serious scholarship is ultimately at the service of a more humane and reconciled world.
