This week’s workshop focuses on strengthening documentation processes, a critical pillar of ISO 9001:2026 implementation. Through enhanced capacity in reviewing, managing, and implementing QMS documentation, our ISO Champions are helping ensure that the system remains compliant, effective, and sustainable in driving continuous improvement and service excellence.

The session was further enriched by the presence of the Director General, Dr. Rukia Atikiya, PhD, and the Director of Corporate Services, Mr. Gerald Kirimi, reaffirming the institution’s leadership commitment to the successful implementation of the Quality Management System.

NITA recently conducted a workplace mentor training for industry representatives hosting apprentices, equipping them with the tools, knowledge, and approaches needed to effectively coach, support, and assess apprentices on the job.
Delivered in partnership with Swisscontact under the , the training reinforced the critical role workplace mentors play in improving learning outcomes, workplace performance, and apprentice success.
With apprentices spending approximately 75% of their training in industry, the success of dual apprenticeship depends on the quality of workplace learning. Workplace mentors are therefore instrumental in guiding practical learning, transferring industry knowledge, and supporting the development of job-ready skills.
Quality apprenticeship requires quality mentorship. By investing in the development of workplace mentors, NITA is strengthening the foundation for effective apprenticeship training and helping build a skilled workforce that responds to industry needs.

📍 Today at State House, H.E. President William Samoei Ruto presided over the graduation of NYOTA Project Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) beneficiaries.

The RPL programme, implemented by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), has awarded 3,750 beneficiaries certificates recognising competencies acquired through prior learning and work experience, opening pathways to greater employment, entrepreneurship and economic opportunities for young people.

President Ruto commended the beneficiaries for their resilience and hard work and encouraged them to save through the NSSF Haba Haba savings programme to strengthen their financial future.

Beneficiaries can also access their examination results through the NITA portal.

Day Two of the ISO 9001:2026 QMS Implementers’ Training and Documentation Workshop focused on practical learning and hands-on engagement, with nominated ISO Champions from various departments and sections participating in a range of exercises designed to deepen their understanding of Quality Management System requirements.

The Champions engaged in practical exercises on process identification, documentation, process mapping, risk-based thinking and the review of existing QMS processes and procedures. The sessions provided an opportunity for participants to apply the knowledge gained to real work processes within their respective functions, while identifying areas for improvement and strengthening process effectiveness.

Through interactive discussions, group exercises and knowledge-sharing sessions, the Champions further enhanced their capacity to support the development, review and implementation of QMS documentation within their departments.
