Limnology & Wetland Management (LWM) Programme

Limnology & Wetland Management (LWM) Programme LWM Programme is a prestigious and exquisite masters programme in the region. It focuses on management issue on water bodies and environment protection.

This joint Master programme combines the best parts of the cooperating partners. You will study the fundamentals in limnology and applied limnology at the renowned BOKU University, in which the well-known IPGL-programme has been recently integrated into. In Kenya you will investigate unique tropical lakes and rivers, such as Lake Victoria - the world 2nd largest freshwater lake and the famous Keny

an Rift Valley lakes, which are habitats of millions of flamingos. You will be exposed to typical challenges in conservation and management of aquatic ecosystems in developing countries. At UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education, you will study wetland management and interactions with local lively-hood, processes and modelling of ecosystems. The taught part will be concluded by groupwork, which gives you the opportunity to integrate the acquired knowledge together with other international students from different disciplines. After you have finished the 12-months taught period, you will prepare your M.Sc. research proposal, carry-out your research and write your thesis. The international joint-degree certificate will be awarded to you after 18-months
