Today, after 6 weeks, my research stay at Mount Kenya University comes to an end. It was one of the most formative experiences of my entire masters, both personally and professionally, and taught me more in a short amount of time than anything I have done before.

Professionally, I learned how important it is to critically reflect on the impact of context on data collection and research findings, how much stamina participant outreach requires, and most importantly, why this work matters. I spoke to so many students whose lives were directly impacted by the entrepreneurship training, who successfully opened businesses, gained confidence in their entrepreneurial abilities, and whose daily lives were ultimately improved because of the work we as researchers do. It made me realize how meaningful research can be, something we often forget because our impact is rarely that tangible. This experience strengthens my drive to pursue a career where rigorous work leads to a real difference in people's lives.

On a personal level, I am deeply grateful for every friendship and connection I made here. From day one I felt genuinely welcomed, and I was lucky to meet people who offered new perspectives every single day. I am also especially grateful to have shared this stay with my colleague ​Konrad Lesniak​, without whom it would not have been the same. And a very special thank you to ​Nicodemus Mutuku ​ and ​victor kyumwa ​ for showing us the most beautiful corners of this country, from the mountains to the sea.

Also, thank you to Michael M. Gielnik ​, ​Janina Peschmann ​, Malala Bonface , the STEP team, and everyone at who made this research stay possible.

Now I can focus on the data analysis and writing of my master thesis on the adaptive self-efficacy intervention I tested with nascent entrepreneurs in Kenya. And stay tuned, because a colleague will soon replicate the study with employees in Europe!

Mount Kigali University Mount Kigali University & JKUAT forge landmark academic collaboration:

Mount Kigali University (MKU), Rwanda, has unveiled a landmark academic collaboration with Kenya’s Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) aimed at strengthening training in industrial and applied research.
The partnership will see the two institutions implement joint academic programmes, collaborative research initiatives, and faculty and student exchange programmes.
