Adjunct Appointment Recognition Ceremony at the University of Puthisastra

Phnom Penh: On Monday, May 28, 2026, the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Puthisastra proudly organized the Adjunct Appointment Recognition Ceremony to honor the achievements and professional contributions of 14 professors. The ceremony was held under the chairmanship of Prof. Ian Rouse, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Puthisastra; Prof. Chea Sin, Vice-President; and Asst. Prof. Chhea Sophearom, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, together with professors, lecturers, distinguished guests, faculty staff, and pharmacy students.

The Faculty of Pharmacy proudly extends its sincere congratulations to the 14 newly appointed Adjunct Professors, Adjunct Associate Professors, and Adjunct Assistant Professors. These appointments recognize their dedication, academic excellence, professional leadership, and significant contributions to pharmacy education, research, healthcare services, and professional development in Cambodia.

The Faculty proudly congratulates Assoc. Prof. Ket Vansith on his appointment as Adjunct Professor.

The Faculty also extends its sincere congratulations to the newly appointed Adjunct Associate Professors, including Dr. Choun Vibol, Asst. Prof. Pech Chamnannvisal, Asst. Prof. Kuch Huot, Asst. Prof. Va Sokea, Dr. Uy Sokchamroeun, Dr. Vong Dany, Dr. Pai Kosal, and H.E. Dr. Kim Sorya.

យើងខ្ញុំមានសេចក្តីក្តុកក្តួល និងសោកស្តាយជាពន់ពេកចំពោះមរណភាពភ្លាមៗ របស់ លោក តុម ចាន់នា ដែលជាសាស្ត្រាចារ្យភាសាអង់គ្លេសវ័យក្មេងម្នាក់ ប្រកបដោយការលះបង់ និងទទួលបានការស្រឡាញ់រាប់អានយ៉ាងខ្លាំង នៅក្នុងមហាវិទ្យាល័យសិល្បៈ មនុស្សសាស្ត្រ និងភាសា។

Today is a very sad day for the University of Puthisastra (UP).

We are deeply saddened by the sudden and unexpected passing of Mr. Tom Channea, one of our young, dedicated, and much-loved English language lecturers in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Languages.

Channea was more than just a lecturer. He was a kind colleague, a committed teacher, a gentle presence, and someone who always made students and staff feel respected, supported, and encouraged. He gave generously of himself to UP, to his students, and to everyone around him.

Many staff and students are feeling this loss deeply. That is because Channea truly mattered. He touched countless lives through his teaching, his kindness, his humility, and his positive spirit.

At this incredibly sad time, our hearts are especially with his wife, Ms. Long Davy—who is also a valued member of our UP family—their young daughter, and all members of his family. We stand with them in sorrow, respect, and love.

May Channea rest in peace.

7th Competency-Based Education Training Series: Principles of Assessment and Assessment Blueprint

Phnom Penh, Saturday, May 16, 2026 — The College of Pharmacy successfully continued its 7th Competency-Based Education (CBE) Training Series under the theme “Principles of Assessment and Assessment Blueprint.”

The training session emphasized key pedagogical frameworks and assessment strategies essential for competency-based education. Major areas of focus included the study and application of Miller’s Pyramid, the purposes and principles of assessment, and the development of effective assessment blueprints aligned with learning outcomes and professional competencies.
The program aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of educational assessment methodologies and enhance instructional design practices to support learner-centered and outcome-based education in pharmacy training.

Sixteen leaders, lecturers, and students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at University of Puthisastra participated in the 5th Student Conference on Pharmacy Research (SCPHarmRes) in Vietnam.

Vietnam: On Friday, May 15, 2026, Dr. Thet Sopheak, Deputy Dean in charge of Research, and Ms. Srey Pich, full-time lecturer, led 14 students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at University of Puthisastra to participate in the 5th Student Conference on Pharmacy Research (SCPHarmRes) held in Vietnam.
During the conference, four groups of students delivered oral presentations on the following research topics:

1. The Assessment of Pharmacy Practice Regarding Prescription Handling in Hospital Pharmacy, Cambodia

2. The Prevalence and Association Factors Toward Prescription Errors in a Hospital Setting, Cambodia

3. Medicinal Plants of the Annonaceae Family in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia: A Comparative Analysis of Traditional Healing Practices and Pharmacological Evidence

4. Herbarium Collection and Taxonomic Identification of Medicinal Plants in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia

ភ្នំពេញ៖ ថ្ងៃពុធ ១២រោច ខែពិសាខ ឆ្នាំមមី អដ្ឋស័ក ពុទ្ធសករាជ២៥៧០ ត្រូវនឹងថ្ងៃទី១៣ ខែឧសភា ឆ្នាំ២០២៦ អ្នកសម្របសម្រួលក្លឹបសិក្សាឱសថសាស្រ្តបានដឹកនាំនិស្សិតសមាជិកក្លឹបចំនួន២០នាក់ ទៅធ្វើទស្សនៈកិច្ចសិក្សានៅឱសថស្ថាន យូឃែរ នៅការិយាល័យកណ្តាល ដែលមានការចូលរួមពីសំណាក់ កញ្ញា ជួន ណារ៉ែន ជំនួយការអ្នកគ្រប់គ្រងឱសថការី ។ ជំនួយការអ្នកគ្រប់គ្រងឱសថការី នៅឱសថស្ថានយូឃែ កញ្ញា ជួន ណារ៉ែន បានដឹកនាំនិស្សិតទៅទស្សនាក្នុងឱសថស្ថានជាក់ស្តែង ដើម្បីមើលឃើញ និងយល់កាន់តែច្បាស់អំពីលំហូរការងារ និងការរៀបចំនៅក្នុងឱសថស្ថានផងដែរ។

២. ស្វែងយល់ពីដំណើរការជ្រើសរើសបុគ្គលិកនៅឱសថស្ថាន យូឃែ ។
៣. ស្វែងយល់ពីចក្ខុវិស័យរបស់ ឱសថស្ថាន យូឃែ ។
៤. ស្វែងយល់ពីភារកិច្ចផ្ទាល់ខ្លួនរបស់ឱសថការីនៅឱសថស្ថាន យូឃែ ។
៥. ស្វែងយល់ពីការរៀបចំហាងដោយផ្អែកលើទំហំនៃឱសថស្ថាន (ឱសថស្ថាន គ្រឿងសម្អាង និងមីនីម៉ាត) ។

The Pharmacy Club of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Puthisastra, led students on a study tour to Ucare Pharmacy.

Phnom Penh: On Wednesday,May 13, 2026, the Pharmacy Club Coordinator led 20 student members on a study tour to the head office of Ucare Pharmacy. The visit was warmly welcomed by Ms. Chuon Naren, Assistant Pharmacy Manager at Ucare Pharmacy. During the visit, Ms. Chuon Naren guided the students through the pharmacy and introduced them to the actual workflow and organizational structure of a standard pharmacy setting.

Through this educational visit, the members of the Pharmacy Club gained valuable experiences and knowledge, including:

Understanding the role of a pharmacist in a standard pharmacy setting.
Understanding the recruitment process at Ucare Pharmacy.
Understanding the vision and mission of Ucare Pharmacy.
Learning about the professional responsibilities of pharmacists at Ucare Pharmacy.

Learning about store layout management based on pharmacy size, including pharmacy, cosmetics, and minimart sections.

Finally, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Ms. Chuon Naren and the entire Ucare Pharmacy team for dedicating their valuable time to organize and warmly welcome our students during this meaningful visited.

Pre-departure Meeting for 14 Pharmacy Students Selected for Oral Presentation at the 5th Student Conference on Pharmacy Research (SCPHarmRes) in Vietnam.

Phnom Penh: On May 13, 2026, the Faculty of Pharmacy organized a pre-departure meeting for 14 pharmacy students selected to deliver oral presentations at the 5th Student Conference on Pharmacy Research (SCPHarmRes) in Vietnam. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Ian Rouse, President and Vice-Chancellor of University of Puthisastra; Prof. Chea Sin, Vice President of University of Puthisastra; and Asst. Prof. Chhea Sophearom, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy. The event was attended by a total of 23 leaders, professors, lecturers, staff members, and students.
