Centre for Biodiversity Conservation (CBC) Centre for Biodiversity Conservation To this end, the centre presently undertakes activities in four areas, as follows:

Following decades of underinvestment in the education sector, biodiversity conservation in Cambodia is severely hampered by a shortage of trained conservationists and reliable biodiversity data. Located in the Department of Biology, the Centre for Biodiversity Conservation (CBC) aims to respond to these challenges by providing “A national hub for postgraduate education, original biodiversity research, information dissemination and inter-agency collaboration”. The CBC strives to provides essential knowledge, skills and experience in contemporary conservation biology and in the management and sustainable use of natural resources.

Not far from the marine life, The Centre for Biodiversity Conservation (CBC) is honored to host another hybrid guest lecture titled "Community-Powered Conservation: Protecting Cambodia's Marine Mammals Through Local Partnership" as in the attached photo. This presentation will be provided as group by Mrs. Rose Ellis Arnett, Mr. Kosal Phalim, and Ms. Chin Sreyleap, a tag team from the Khmer Ocean Life.

We are pleased to share our recent publication on dung beetle diversity in the Cardamom Mountains of Cambodia. This study provides the first baseline insight into the assemblages of Scarabaeinae in this globally important yet understudied region.

We would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Mahamad Bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund for their generous financial support, which made this research possible. I am also deeply thankful to the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) for co-funding support throughout this work.

We hope this study will serve as a foundation for future biodiversity research and conservation efforts in Cambodia.

On behalf of CBC, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Veronica Neva, a freshwater ecologist and assistant professor of the University of Milano-Bicocca for your insightful and engaging guest lecture on the "The Influence of Plastic Pollution on Ecological Processes in Large Rivers: Insights from The Mekong River System". Her comprehensive presentations provided an in-depth understanding of microbial species composition that can be found on the waste plastics, how different of those composition in the main river systems (Mekong, Bassac, and Tonle Sap), and how different substrate response to different in microbial species presence.

Dr. Veronica's knowledge and practical examples not only elucidated the current challenges and opportunities in this field but also inspired meaningful discussions and future exploration. Her contribution to our learning community is highly valued. She also point out that microplastic is the major concerns for the future ecosystem flow as it is not just pollute the water quality, also does interrupt the digestive system as if the consumption keep continue.

We also would like to thank to Mrs. Saray Samadee and Mrs. Chea Seila to make this event happened. Both play crucial part in the presentation coordination and sharing session materials. Finally, thank to Phnom Penh Teacher Education College for providing facilities to operate the guest lecture event.
