The Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Puthisastra is proud to share that our Dean, Professor Anand Marya, was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the First Cambodian Association of Pediatric Dentistry Conference, held on 13 August 2026 at the Phnom Penh Hotel.

Although the Cambodian Association of Pediatric Dentistry has been established for several years, this milestone event marked its first standalone annual conference. Under the theme “Overcoming Challenges in Pediatric Dentistry,” the programme brought together distinguished national and international speakers to share contemporary knowledge and clinical approaches in children’s oral healthcare.

Professor Anand Marya was also invited to deliver a keynote lecture entitled “Orthodontic Management in the Primary and Mixed Dentition,” highlighting the importance of early diagnosis, timely intervention, and growth-informed treatment planning for young patients.

Congratulations to the Cambodian Association of Pediatric Dentistry on this important achievement and its continued contribution to advancing pediatric dental education and care in Cambodia.

University of Puthisastra and Chung Shan Medical University Sign MOU to Strengthen Academic Collaboration📗📘

On 10 August 2026, the University of Puthisastra (UP) and Chung Shan Medical University (CSMU) successfully held an MOU Signing Ceremony to strengthen academic collaboration and promote opportunities for academic exchange between the two institutions.

The respectfully joined by Prof. Ian Rouse, Prof. Anand Marya, Asst. Prof. Soeun Sopharith, Assoc. Prof. Siddharthan Selvaraj, Ms. Rien Samriththyda, Dr. Bhavna, Dr. Khemey, along with faculty members and the relations and partnerships team.

The delegation from Chung Shan Medical University included Prof. Chia-Tze Kao, Prof. Tsui-Hsien Huang, Assoc. Prof. Ming-Yi Lu, and Ms. Yu-Lu Hasiao.

Following the MOU signing ceremony, members of the Faculty of Dentistry hosted the CSMU delegation for lunch and accompanied them on a visit to Standard Dental Clinic. The delegation was warmly welcomed by the clinic owner, Prof. Hong Someth, who provided a tour of the clinic and introduced them to its facilities and services.

In the evening, dental student volunteers from the University of Puthisastra accompanied the CSMU delegation on a bus tour around Phnom Penh City, providing an opportunity to experience the city and enjoy an informal cultural exchange.

We sincerely thank Chung Shan Medical University for this valuable collaboration and for joining us in establishing this MOU for academic exchange. We look forward to working closely together to create more opportunities for students and faculty and to contribute to the continuous improvement of dental education, academic exchange, and professional development.

A Meaningful Academic Exchange Between UP and Chung Shan Medical University, Taiwan

On 10 August 2026, the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Puthisastra was delighted to welcome the distinguished delegation from Chung Shan Medical University (CSMU), Taiwan, for an enriching Academic Exchange Session.

The program brought together faculty members, clinicians, and students for six insightful lectures addressing contemporary developments in dentistry, digital innovation, artificial intelligence, clinical care, and community engagement.
Our visiting CSMU faculty shared their expertise through three excellent presentations:
• Prof. Chia-Tze Kao – Application of 3D-Printed Oral Appliances for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea
• Prof. Tsui-Hsien Huang – Vital Pulp Therapy
• Assoc. Prof. Ming-Yi Lu – Minimally Invasive Treatment for Temporomandibular Disorders

Representing the UP Faculty of Dentistry, the following presentations highlighted our growing strengths in innovation, digital dentistry, and community service:
• Prof. Anand Marya – Use of AI for Airway Risk Detection Across Multiple Skeletal Classes
• Dr. Kanchan Chaukiyal – Pixels to Prosthesis: The Complete Digital Denture Workflow
• Dr. Sieng Chanthida, CIPO – The CIPO Community Program and UP Community Activities

The exchange generated meaningful discussions, encouraged the sharing of clinical and academic perspectives, and demonstrated the important role of international collaboration in advancing dental education and patient care.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the leadership and faculty of Chung Shan Medical University for sharing their valuable knowledge and experience. We also thank all UP faculty members, lecturers, students, and colleagues who participated and contributed to the success of today’s program.

This academic exchange represents another important step in strengthening the relationship between CSMU and UP and opens further opportunities for collaborative education, research, faculty engagement, and student development across Taiwan, Cambodia, and the wider Asian region.

🍀Welcoming Tohoku University Students to UP for an Inbound Academic Exchange📘📗

The Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Puthisastra (UP) was delighted to welcome two fifth-year undergraduate dental students from Tohoku University, Japan, on 10 August as they began a three-week inbound academic exchange program in Cambodia.

The students were formally welcomed and oriented by Prof. Anand Marya, Asst. Prof. Soeun Sopharith, Dr. Bhavna Nahata, and Dr. Ea Khemey. The orientation introduced them to the Faculty, its academic and clinical programs, student life, and the learning opportunities available throughout their stay. They were also given a guided tour of the University campus and its facilities, followed by participation in the international academic exchange lectures held in Hall H.

Running from 10 to 31 August 2026, the program has been designed to provide a rich combination of academic, clinical, community, and cultural experiences. During their exchange, the students will participate in:

• Joint lectures, thesis defences, clinical seminars, and case discussions with UP students
• Clinical observation in orthodontics, prosthodontics, endodontics, paediatric dentistry, restorative dentistry, general dentistry, surgery, and implant dentistry
• Practical exposure in prosthodontic and restorative dentistry laboratories
• Visits to selected private dental clinics and community-based clinical settings
• Participation in the Joint Healthy Kids Project and other community activities
• Academic presentations, faculty discussions, student reflections, and cultural exchange activities
• Visits to important cultural and historical sites in Phnom Penh

This exchange offers the visiting students an opportunity to experience dental education and patient care within the Cambodian context while learning alongside UP students, faculty members, and clinicians. It will also encourage the sharing of perspectives, the development of intercultural understanding, and the formation of meaningful professional connections.

We warmly welcome our two visiting students from Tohoku University and wish them an enriching, memorable, and rewarding stay at UP and in Cambodia.
