Students enrolled in the year 2 of the Dual Master's Degree in Public International Law Université Paris 8-RULE have attended the second part of the course International Environmental Law, conducted by visiting legal scholar Samuel Claude, from Université Paris 8.

The first part of the course, comprising of 15 hours, was dedicated to comparative environmental law (mostly US, EU, China and some selected South East Asian jurisdictions), while the second part (15 hours) focuses on international instruments, jurisprudence and principles.

We are immensely to Samuel Claude for his precious expertise and time.

Students enrolled in the year 1 of the Dual Master's Degree in International Business Law Université Libre de Bruxelles-RULE attended a 15-hour-long specialization seminar on Petroleum Contract Law, entirely taught by Dr. Jehan-Eric BLUMEREAU. At the end of the seminar, co-organized with TotalEnergies, the students were awarded a certificate, after completion of an exam testing their knwoledge of the issue.

Dr. Blumereau is a senior legal executive with expertise in international business, energy contracts, and petroleum contracts. As Vice-President at Total Professeurs Associés and a Conseiller du Commerce Extérieur de la France, he supports French economic diplomacy, particularly in the Middle East and South East Asia. His career spans petroleum contract negotiation and lobbying within EU institutions. He holds directorships in several international companies based in the UAE. We are grateful for Jehan-Eric BLUMEREAU for his precious expertise.

From April 5th to April 11th, a delegation from the Royal University of Law and Economics conducted a mission at the University College Cork in the context of a capacity-building project for the launch of the doctoral school at RULE. RULE Vice-Rector for doctoral studies, Pr. Phalthy Hap, Pr. Sreang Sim and Asst. Pr. Paul Mornet - RULE Dual Degree Department participated on behalf of RULE, and were welcomed by Pr. McINTYRE Owen and Dr. Fiona Donson from UCC.

The mission comprised of several meetings with key stakeholders from UCC doctoral programs in law, with a summary of these activities below:

-Tuesday April 7th – Meeting with Pr. Orla Lynch, Dean of Doctoral Studies at UCC;

-Wednesday April 8th 2026 – PhD Symposium at UCC;

-Thursday April 9th 2026 – Meeting with Dr. Bernard Long, Pr. of Legal Theory;

-Thursday April 9th 2026 – Meeting on AI and Ethics with Rebecca Leigh & Loretta Goff;

-Thursday April 9th 2026 – Meeting with Law School Leads on Graduate Studies – Pr. Olufemi Amao and Dr. Jonathan McCarthy;

-Thursday April 9th 2026 – Meeting with UCC Vice-President for Learning and Teaching, Pr. Paul McSweeney;

-Friday April 10th 2026 – Guest Lectures on ASEAN as a distinct form of regionalism (Paul Mornet) and Cambodian legal system (Hap Phalthy);

-Friday April 10th 2026 – Meeting on Legal Methodology, with Dr. Adrian Aronsson-Storrier.

The students enrolled in the Dual LLM (Master of Law) in Digital Law RULE - Aix-Marseille University had the privilege of welcoming Valentin Rougier for a guest lecture titled ''Artificial Intelligence and Arbitration''. Mr. Rougier is an attorney-at-law practicing at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP and an alumnus of SciencesPo Paris and Columbia University.

The guest lecture broached on the impact AI produces on judicial professions in general, but more specifically on arbitration practice in international law firms.

The Dual LLM (Master of Law) in Digital Law RULE - Aix-Marseille University is immensely grateful to Valentin for sharing his precious expertise, and hope to reiterate such interactions in the future.

Pr. Dr. Rothna NGORN conducts the course of Personal Data and the Cambodian Legal System for the year 1 students enrolled in the Dual LLM (Master of Law) in Digital Law RULE - Aix-Marseille University.

Dr. Rothna is a senior associate at Bun & Associates Law Office and a qualified trademark agent in Cambodia, specializing in intellectual property (IP) protection, commercialization, and enforcement. With over a decade of experience, she also advises about the Cambodian legal framework on competition and data protection laws.

Additionally, she serves as a national expert for WIPO by assisting in drafting a sub-decree on IP rights enforcement in Cambodia and has contributed to legislative drafting projects for the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation.

Our objective is to train Cambodia's first generation of digital lawyers, who will develop unique competences highly sought on the job market and acknowledged by the award of the LLM in Digital Law from AMU and the Cambodian master's degree in digital law.

Adjunct Pr. Olga Boltenko, FCIArb conducts the course International Investment Law for the students enrolled in the year 2 of the Dual Master's Degree in International Business Law Université Libre de Bruxelles-RULE.

Olga Boltenko is a barrister and arbitrator based in Hong Kong and a registered foreign lawyer at the Singapore International Commercial Court. She has been conducting the course International Investment Law since 2016 at RULE Dual Degree Department in Law.

Pr. Dr. Irene Calboli conducted the course Intellectual Property Law for year 2 students enrolled in the Dual Master's Degree in International Business Law Université Libre de Bruxelles-RULE: https://ddprule.org/faculty/professor/pr-irene-calboli/

Irene Calboli specializes in Intellectual Property, International Trade, and Cultural Heritage Law. She is Regents Professor of Law at Texas A&M University School of Law and holds several honorary and visiting academic appointments, including at SciencesPo Paris, the University of Geneva, the University of Bologna, IE University, Bocconi University, Melbourne University, Stanford University, Singapore University of Social Sciences, and National Law University Delhi. She has been a Visiting Professor and Distinguished Fellow at RULE since 2017. In 2018, she was a Fulbright Specialist in Cambodia, and, in 2022, a Fulbright-Hanken Distinguished Chair in Business and Economics in Finland. A world-renowned expert in her fields, Irene regularly lectures and conducts training programs for international and regional organizations, national IP offices, and universities in every continent. She is an Expert for several United Nations agencies, including the World Intellectual Property Organization, the World Trade Organization, and the International Trade Center.
