On 15 August 2026, 60 educators came together at Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia (PUC), Toul Kork Campus, Phnom Penh, for the On-Site Training on Digital Learning Approach in Transforming Education for Southeast Asia Teachers—a meaningful initiative dedicated to empowering teachers with the skills, creativity, and confidence needed to thrive in a rapidly changing digital education landscape.
The training was jointly organized by SEAMEO Regional Centre for Technical Education Development (SEAMEO TED), SEAMEO Regional Centre for Special Educational Needs (SEAMEO SEN), Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia (PUC), Using Technology Better (UTB), and Canva Education. The initiative formed part of the broader effort to promote innovative, inclusive, student-centred, and future-ready education across Southeast Asia.
Throughout the one-day programme, participants engaged in interactive learning, demonstrations, discussions, and practical activities designed to connect digital technology with effective teaching practice. They explored how digital tools can help teachers move beyond traditional classroom resources to create engaging learning materials, professional classroom resources, interactive lessons, and collaborative learning experiences.
The training also highlighted the importance of creativity and digital literacy as essential competencies for 21st-century educators. Participants were encouraged to explore how technology can support not only attractive lesson design, but also more active participation, collaboration, creativity, and meaningful learning among students.
The Opening Session featured Dr. Songheang Ai, Director of SEAMEO TED, and Dr. Kol D. Sophia, Vice President for Policy & Planning of PUC, who joined educators in highlighting the importance of strengthening teachers' capacity to respond to the changing demands of education.
The training was further enriched by experienced trainers, including Ts. Olya Dollah, CANVA Certified Trainer and Technology Specialist, Using Technology Better, Malaysia, and Mohd Zulkarnain Abdul Wahab, Head of Training and Capacity Development Division, SEAMEO SEN, Malaysia. Their practical expertise helped participants discover new possibilities for using digital technology and creative design in teaching and learning.
An important feature of the programme was also the opportunity for educators to learn more about the SEAMEO SEN–Canva Creativity in Education Award 2026, an initiative that celebrates creative and inclusive teacher-led practices across Southeast Asia and encourages educators to share innovative approaches that empower learners and respond to real-world challenges............................
