15th April is the world's first International Wellness Day, a milestone proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly to promote holistic well-being across physical, mental, emotional, and social dimensions.
For those of us in educational leadership, this is more than a calendar observance. Research consistently shows that leader well-being directly influences organisational culture, staff retention, and institutional effectiveness. Yet most leadership training programmes still treat wellness as a soft add-on rather than a core pillar of professional development.
At Paragon International University's Department of Educational Leadership, our MA and PhD programmes are designed with the whole leader in mind, preparing graduates not just to manage systems, but to lead with clarity, self-awareness, and sustained energy.
This International Wellness Day, we invite educational leaders and aspiring ones to consider: Is your development programme building you to last?
