On May 27, 2026, Handong International Law School was honored to welcome Justice Hyungdu Kim of the Constitutional Court of Korea for a special lecture on “Korea’s Constitutional Adjudication: Its Global Place and Challenges.”
Drawing from Korea’s constitutional history and contemporary global issues, Justice Kim explored the evolution of Korea’s constitutional adjudication system, the role of the Constitutional Court in protecting democracy and fundamental rights, and the growing importance of global constitutional dialogue.
The lecture also addressed current constitutional challenges, including political polarization, judicial legitimacy, artificial intelligence, climate litigation, and the responsibility of courts in safeguarding future generations.
Justice Kim encouraged students to pursue legal excellence with integrity, emphasizing that legal knowledge should be used not only for success, but also for justice, service, and the strengthening of the rule of law.
We sincerely thank Justice Kim for sharing his invaluable insights and inspiring our students with a global vision for constitutional law and public service.
