Master Sgt. Bruce Jones took the stage at Marine Corps’ Camp Kinser to talk about how a severe motorcycle accident upended his life.

Our final speaker is here, Dr. Will Penner!

He is Principal of Lester Middle School in Okinawa and Middle Tennessee's Middle School Principal of the Year during COVID. With 35 years spanning youth ministry, teaching, and school administration, he's authored 20 chapters, edited 16 books, presented at 28 conferences, and consulted for dozens of organizations.

His TEDx talk will explore how "soft skills" have been relegated to the periphery of competencies considered vital within education, primarily because they are more difficult to codify and measure than more traditional academic disciplines.

What is the importance of "soft skills" to our next generation?

Meet Derek F. Miles!

He is the Development Advisor for the 18th Wing at Kadena Air Base who shapes the professional growth of thousands of Airmen and he is the principal advisor to commanders and senior enlisted leaders on development, retention, and retraining. This innovative leader founded a grassroots mentoring initiative for the next generation of enlisted leaders, served as a crisis response advocate, and was recognized as a Top 15 Finalist in the 2025 Air Force Spark Tank. With multiple Group and MAJCOM-level NCO of the Year titles, the prestigious John L. Levitow Award, and 12 Outstanding Airman of the Year recognitions under his belt, he is transforming how the Air Force develops its people.

His TEDx talk explores the philosophy of ultimate responsibility and how embracing complete ownership and accountability turns frustration into growth, blame into empowerment, and challenges leaders to measure success not by recognition, but by their ability to inspire others to believe in themselves.

Vinny is the 2022 Armed Forces Insurance Marine Corps Spouse of the Year, a nonprofit president, and a passionate advocate for military spouses worldwide. As President of the North Island Okinawa Spouses Club, he leads initiatives that foster connection, inclusion, and leadership across cultures and ranks. With over 15 years of management experience and as an MBA candidate, Vinny blends strategic vision with a heart for service. His TEDx talk shares his journey as a male military spouse and the lessons he’s learned about building stronger, more inclusive communities.

Revealing our 8th speaker, Soncheray Hall!

She transformed her own foster care experience into a calling to help others heal. This experienced clinical therapist and owner of her own online therapy practice has dedicated her career to improving lives worldwide through psychiatric rehabilitation, substance abuse treatment, crisis intervention, and wellness coaching. As an active member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and serving as Adjunct Faculty at Stevenson University and Howard University, she's passionate about challenging traditional perspectives in social work.
