The Neuroscience Graduate Program at Ajou University School of Medicine (ANGP) was established as the first of its kind in Korea to provide integrative neuroscience education of graduate level. The ANGP has recruited active researchers majoring in from cellular and molecular to system level neuroscience, who have provided systematic course works in various subfields in neuroscience. We have produc
ed many graduates with PhD or MS many of whom are actively engaged in neuroscience researches. Therefore, the ANGP is considered as the first and the best neuroscience graduate program in Korea, and our reputation has gone beyond a domestic territory and reached the international neuroscience community. This capacity allowed us to be designated as the government-funded Science Research Center (SRC) from 1998 to 2007, which was the first SRC established in the medical school. Our excellence in research has been proved by publishing more than several articles in highly regarded peer reviewed journals such as Nature Neuroscience, Neuron, PNAS, Genes & Development, and Molecular Cell. Currently, there are about 20 faculty members and more than 50 graduate students in our program, who regularly attend Korean Brain and Neuroscience Society and Society for Neuroscience (USA) to present their research proceedings. We have a long-standing reputation in the researches for neurological diseases and related drug development. In addition, dynamic collaborations with clinical neuroscience faculty members at Ajou University Hospital, which is located within the same campus, make it possible to translate research outcomes to the patients suffering from neurological and psychiatric illnesses. There are also world-leading research labs in system neuroscience, neural stem cell research, and neuroinflammation, which can accommodate a wide range of scientific interests of potential graduate students. 아주대학교 의과대학 의생명과학과 신경과학 대학원과정은 국내 최초로 통합적 신경과학 교육을 제공하기 위하여 2000년 3월 설립되었습니다. 본 신경과학전공 프로그램은 세포 및 분자 수준에서부터 시스템 뇌과학까지 다양한 신경과학 분야 전공 교수진을 갖추고 선도적인 커리큘럼을 구비하여 그 동안 많은 신경과학 분야의 박사 및 석사를 배출하여 명실공히 국내 최고의 신경과학 대학원으로 인정받고 있습니다. 이러한 역량을 바탕으로 국내 의과대학 최초로 우수연구센터(SRC)를 유치하여 국내 신경과학 발전에 기여하였고, Nature Neuroscience, Neuron, PNAS, Genes & Development, Molecular Cell 등 최정상급 학술지에 여러 편의 논문을 게재하여 국내 신경과학의 위상을 세계에 알린 바 있습니다.
현재 약 20여명의 전공 교수진과 50여명의 대학원생이 세계적 수준의 연구를 수행하고 있으며, 한국뇌신경과학회 및 미국신경과학회에 활발히 참여하여 연구성과를 발표하고 있습니다. 아주의대 신경과학 프로그램은 특히 뇌신경질환 연구 및 약물개발에 오랜 전통을 가지고 있으며, 동일 캠퍼스에 있는 아주대학교병원 신경분야 임상의사들과의 협력연구를 통하여 다이내믹한 중개연구를 수행할 수 있습니다. 또한 시스템 신경과학, 신경줄기세포, 신경계 염증 분야의 세계적 연구를 리드하는 우수한 실험실을 보유하여, 다양한 흥미를 가진 신경과학도의 대학원교육 및 연구의 이상적인 장이 될 것으로 생각합니다.
