Where Design Meets Activism - AOD’s Changemakers on the Global Stage
When design becomes a form of care, it changes everything.
AOD alumna .design, now at the Royal College of Art, London, took her activism to the global stage at London Fashion Week with “S.O.S – Save Our Seas.”
What began as a response to the X-Press Pearl disaster in Sri Lanka has grown into a multisensory experience that brings together fashion, scent, sound, and marine science. Inviting audiences to feel the fragility of our oceans. Through texture, movement, and scent, Ruwanthie turns research into emotion and data into empathy.
Her work is a reminder that design isn’t just about creating things — it’s about creating change.
And that’s what we believe in: empowering designers who use their craft to question, heal, and reimagine the world around them.
