Arabic calligraphy is not merely writing; it is the visual representation of the divine word, a spiritual journey where the hand moves in harmony with the heart. A few months ago, we started something new, the Art of Arabic Calligraphy, an initiative by the Muslim Majlis 2024/25 of Muslim Ladies’ College. Over the past year, our students of Grade 9 & 10 (2025) embarked on this journey; learning not just the curves and strokes of the script, but the discipline and tranquility that come with it. Alhamdulillah, today the 27th of March 2026, is a momentous occassion where we host the Inaugural Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition upon the successful completion of Arabic Calligraphy sessions throughout the past year.

This initiative, the Art of Arabic Calligraphy, thrives on vision and encouragement. We are beyond grateful for the support received from our Dear Madam Principal Mrs. Nasriya Munas & the Teacher-In-Charge of Muslim Majlis Mrs. Farah Rifard. We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our mentor who led this initiative with passion, Mrs. Marhana Nazeem, a past pupil of Muslim Ladies’ College who has mastered the Art of Arabic Calligraphy with an experience of 28 years.

We were honoured to have Vidya Samuga Jyothi Al-Haj Mr. M.C. Bahardeen (Chairman of Lanka Agro Processing (Pvt) Ltd.) as our Chief Guest who made this occassion a truly special one.

Todays exhibition is a witness of weeks of dedication, patience, and resilience of our students who have been on a journey of artistic expression. We admire and value their masterpirces and wish them Best of Luck for their future endeavours.
