The Institute of Human Resource Advancement (IHRA), University of Colombo, successfully conducted a Professional Development Workshop on “Basic Financial Management” for the staff of IHRA,University of Colombo on 19 August 2026 at Lecture Hall No. 01, IHRA,University of Colombo .

The workshop focused on strengthening financial knowledge and enhancing organisational effectiveness through practical understanding of financial concepts, budgeting and cost control, financial decision-making, accountability, transparency, and efficient resource utilisation.

The session was facilitated by Mr. DGCN Bandara, Senior Assistant Bursar (SAB), IHRA,University of Colombo and Mr. KLDG Richmand, Senior Staff Management Assistant, IHRA,University of Colombo.

The programme contributed towards developing the financial literacy and decision-making capabilities of IHRA staff, supporting a more efficient and accountable organisational environment.

Delegation from Tribhuvan University, Nepal Visits University of Colombo 🇳🇵🤝🇱🇰
A delegation from Tribhuvan University (त्रिवि सूचना), Nepal, visited the University of Colombo on 4th August 2026. Founded in 1959, Tribhuvan University is Nepal’s oldest and largest higher education institution. The delegation comprised Associate Professor Mothikala Subha Dewan, Associate Professor Shiv Ram Pandey, Mr Chiranjibi Dhakal, and Mr Guru Prasad Poudel.
The delegation was received by Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, and Dr Iroja Caldera, Director of the International Office, for discussions on strengthening ties between the two universities. The delegation later met Professor Sampath Punchihewa, Dean of the Faculty of Law, and discussed potential collaboration between the two law faculties. Discussions between the two universities centred on potential avenues for cooperation, including joint research initiatives, conference organisation and closer academic collaboration.
