The Department of Human Resources Management, University of Colombo, organized HR in Practice: Conversations about HRM, an experiential learning session conducted under the Personality Development course. This was held at TRACE, Maradana and the session provided students with an opportunity to connect classroom learning with practical experiences from the HR profession.

The programme featured engaging sessions with Dr. Sankalpa Gamwarige, Managing Director – Nagarro Sri Lanka, Independent Director – HNB Life, and Board Chairman – TRACE; Mr. Krishan Samarawickrama, HR & Recruitment Innovator and Entrepreneur; and Ms. Nethmi Aloka, HR Executive – John Keells Properties.

Through these interactive conversations, students gained practical insights into career journeys, workplace realities, professional challenges, and the competencies and personal qualities required to succeed as future HR practitioners.

The Department of Human Resources Management sincerely appreciates Dr. Sankalpa Gamwarige, Mr. Krishan Samarawickrama, and Ms. Nethmi Aloka for generously sharing their valuable knowledge, experiences, and professional insights with the students. The Department of Human Resources Management, University of Colombo successfully inaugurated the Third Batch of the Certificate Course in HR Analytics on 26 July 2026 at the Faculty Board Room, marking the commencement of another exciting learning journey in the rapidly evolving field of HR Analytics.

The ceremony was graced by Prof. Yasantha Madurapperuma, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Management and Finance, as the Chief Guest. The occasion was further honoured by the presence of Dr. Rajitha Silva, Head of the Department of Human Resources Management, together with members of the academic and non-academic staff of the Faculty, who warmly welcomed the newly enrolled participants.

The keynote address was delivered by Ms. Thanuja Masakorala, Co-Founder of MintHRM, who shared valuable insights into the transformative role of HR Analytics in modern organizations. Her inspiring address highlighted the growing importance of analytical capabilities in strategic human resource management and encouraged participants to embrace data-driven decision-making in their professional careers.

As the Department continues its commitment to fostering industry-relevant knowledge and professional excellence, the Certificate Course in HR Analytics provides participants with the opportunity to develop practical competencies aligned with the evolving demands of the HR profession.
