NRC Successfully Conducts Workshop on Interventional Research

The National Research Council (NRC) of Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Clinical Trials Registry (SLCTR), successfully conducted a Workshop on Interventional Research on 10 July 2026 at BMICH, Colombo.

The workshop brought together NRC grant recipients, clinical trialists, researchers, healthcare professionals, and postgraduate trainees to enhance their knowledge of interventional research and the clinical trial registration process in Sri Lanka.

The programme featured interactive sessions on the importance of interventional research, clinical trial protocol development, the regulatory framework, and practical guidance on clinical trial registration. Participants also had the opportunity to engage with experts and discuss common challenges encountered during the registration process.

NRC extends its sincere appreciation to the resource persons from the Sri Lanka Clinical Trials Registry and all participants for their valuable contributions and active engagement. Through collaborative initiatives such as this, NRC continues to strengthen research capacity and promote high-quality, ethical, and impactful clinical research in Sri Lanka.

In 2022, the National Research Council (NRC) received a total of 132 research proposals for funding consideration. From this pool of submissions, 21 research proposals were selected for funding. Subsequently, on December 15th, 2022, a total of 17 investigator driven research projects were granted by the Council.

The National Research Council of Sri Lanka organized its first-ever symposium on November 14, 2022 and Hon. Dr. Susil Premajayantha, Minister of Education was partcipated as the chief guest to grace the occasion and Prof. Priyan Dias delivered the keynote address.

The National Research Council of Sri Lanka is organizing a series of workshops on "𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀" to strengthen the research skills of researchers, postgraduates and university students and this workshop consists of three parts. The first part of the workshop consists of two sessions and will be held on 𝟮𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟮𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮 𝗮𝘁 𝟵.𝟬𝟬 𝗮.𝗺. Second and third parts will be held on the following days.
