Highlights- New changes to UK Immigration Rules published on 9th Sep 2019 (to come to effect from 1st October 2019, 6th October 2019 and 1st January 2020)
Tier 2 General: Work
New jobs added to Shortage Occupation- Biological Scientists, Biochemists, Veterinarians
Jobs removed from Shortage list- Production Manager and directors in mining and energy
Chefs working for takeaways can now be sponsored to work under Tier 2 General
PhD level jobs- Tier 2 - Phd Level jobs removed from the Tier 2 cap, will be allocated outside the annual 20,700 limit.
Absences from the UK for overseas research related to the job will not be counted
Doctors, Nurses, Dentists, Midwives who have passed a recognized English Language test do not need to take the UKVI tests for ILR.
Tier 4 Students: Bachelors, Masters or Phd students can now switch to Tier 2 and start working for Tier 2 employer within 3 months of study completion date, whilst application pending;
Tier 4 students can start business activities whilst their application for start up category is pending;
Masters & PhD Students can also start different course with current sponsor from within the UK
For ILR applicants: KOLL- English language and Life in the UK certificates no more needed, just the unique number is sufficient to apply.
Migrants are not penalised for certain absences from employment if they are absent from work due to sickness, statutory parental leave, assisting in a national or international humanitarian or environmental crisis or engaging in legal strike action
Changes are also made to European Settlement Scheme.
