The Faculty of Information Technology is one of the five faculties at the University of Moratuwa, and is recognized as the first-ever faculty of its kind in the national university system of Sri Lanka. Established in June 2001, the Faculty was founded in response to the growing demand for IT professionals in the country. At present, the Faculty offers three internal degree programmes, namely the B
achelor of Science Honours in Information Technology (BScHons (IT)), Bachelor of Science Honours in Information Technology & Management (BScHons (IT&M)), and Bachelor of Science Honours in Artificial Intelligence (BScHons (AI)), as well as an external degree programme, Bachelor of Information Technology. Moreover, the Faculty conducts several postgraduate programmes, including the Master of Science in IT, Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence, Master of Philosophy, and Doctoral degrees. Additionally, professional development programmes have been designed to cater to the immediate needs of the local IT industry.
