The Faculty of Information Technology is one of the five faculties at the University of Moratuwa, and is recognized as the first-ever faculty of its kind in the national university system of Sri Lanka. Established in June 2001, the Faculty was founded in response to the growing demand for IT professionals in the country. At present, the Faculty offers three internal degree programmes, namely the B

achelor of Science Honours in Information Technology (BScHons (IT)), Bachelor of Science Honours in Information Technology & Management (BScHons (IT&M)), and Bachelor of Science Honours in Artificial Intelligence (BScHons (AI)), as well as an external degree programme, Bachelor of Information Technology. Moreover, the Faculty conducts several postgraduate programmes, including the Master of Science in IT, Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence, Master of Philosophy, and Doctoral degrees. Additionally, professional development programmes have been designed to cater to the immediate needs of the local IT industry.

The Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Moratuwa is thrilled to celebrate our students' incredible achievement of securing Second Prize in the Cloud Track Competition at the Huawei ICT Competition 2023–2024 Global Finals! 🇱🇰

Their journey from the national stage to the regional level in Indonesia, and finally to the global arena in China, exemplifies their dedication and exceptional talent.

Congratulations to the outstanding team: Sasika Sankalana (Team Leader), Varaki Vakeesan, and Krishihan Raviendranunder under the guidance of Mr. Dilumika Nawodya (Lecturer).

Congratulations to Sasika Sankalana, Varaki Vakeesan, and Krishihan Raviendran from our Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Moratuwa for securing Third Place in the Cloud Track at the 2023-2024 , representing Sri Lanka!

Under the guidance of instructor Dilumika Navodya, our students demonstrated remarkable dedication throughout the competition, earning praise among the top teams from across the Asia-Pacific region.

Hosted by the ASEAN Foundation and Huawei, a ceremony at the in Jakarta celebrated the achievements of 20 winning teams from 13 countries and areas, marking a significant milestone in the regional final.
