This workshop was thoughtfully designed to deepen students’ technical knowledge in insurance while also enhancing essential soft skills that are crucial for their academic and professional success.

𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓
“Unlock Your Future in the Insurance Industry”

We are excited to share the highlights of Career Excellence Workshop 2025, organized by the Department of Insurance and Valuation on 19th November 2025.

This workshop was designed to equip undergraduates with the knowledge, skills, and industry exposure needed to shape successful professional journeys.

We were honored to host a distinguished panel of industry professionals:
• Mr. Udeni Kiridena – CEO, Sri Lanka Insurance Institute
• Mr. Nilushan Fernando – Senior Manager - Reinsurance & Product Development, Union Assurance PLC
• Mr. Chaminda Peris – Manager - Underwriting, Union Assurance PLC
• Mrs. Prabhashi Kulathunga – Assistant Manager - Life Claims, Softlogic Life Insurance PLC

The event began with a dynamic panel discussion, where our resource persons explored a wide range of topics from industry trends and skill development to workplace readiness, future challenges, and personal career journeys. Their advice and experiences provided students with practical direction and a deeper understanding of the diverse roles available in the insurance industry.

This was followed by an insightful session by Mr. Udeni Kiridena, who shared valuable guidance on professional qualifications, evolving opportunities, and career pathways within the insurance sector. His expertise motivated students to take strategic steps toward building a strong professional foundation.

The workshop successfully inspired undergraduates to think forward, stay prepared, and confidently pursue their aspirations in a rapidly evolving professional landscape.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all speakers, panelists, lecturers, and students who made this event a meaningful and engaging experience.

🐝 A Buzzing Success!
Solitary Bee Conservation and Community Empowerment Initiative 🏡

Implemented on November 14, 2025, in Ehetuwewa, Kurunegala, this project uniquely integrated environmental protection with sustainable economic development.

The initiative’s primary objective was the conservation of solitary bees, an endangered yet critically important group of natural pollinators.

Recognizing the link between conservation and community welfare, we strategically integrated income-generating beekeeping activities to ensure long-term ecological, economic, and social sustainability for the local community.

This success was made possible through a strong multi-stakeholder partnership.

Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC provided financial sponsorship of Rs. 500,000.00.

The Department of Agriculture, Sri Lanka, offered its technical expertise.

Our comprehensive efforts delivered quantifiable, lasting impact on the Ehetuwewa community and the local ecosystem:

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 12 Farmer Families were empowered with beekeeping materials and essential knowledge.

🍯 30 Honeybee Colonies & Bee Boxes, bee smokers, and bee safety caps with net mesh protection were distributed as part of essential beekeeping kits.

🏨 12 Melihives and 12 Solitary Bee Hotels were installed to support native pollinator populations.

🌳 Over 120 Bee-Friendly Trees were planted in the pilot location to enhance habitat.

🎓 52+ Undergraduates from the Department fostered research and practical field skills.

This initiative demonstrates how a single, well-designed project can simultaneously protect biodiversity, uplift rural communities, empower students, and support national development priorities.

We look forward to building upon this foundation for a more sustainable future for Sri Lanka!

"NAVIGO: Steering Toward Strategic Success"

A workshop organized by level four students of the Department of Insurance and Valuation, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka who follows Strategic Management course module taught by Mr. DGL Rasika, Senior Lecturer of the department. Mr.Thilan Perera, an accomplished HR strategist and transformational leader shared powerful insights on modern HR practices, strategic leadership, and talent development.

This workshop was a timely reminder of how strategic alignment between leadership and human capital is essential in navigating today’s dynamic business environment.

CSR Initiative: Inspiring Future Minds and Sustainable Living

Visit 3 - රඹාවැව කනිෂ්ඨ විද්‍යාලය - පඬුවස්නුවර

The 3rd year undergraduates of our department organized a meaningful CSR initiative at Rambawewa Kanishta Vidyalaya, aiming to inspire young students, emphasize the importance of education, and promote environmental sustainability.

Here's what we accomplished together:
🌳 Planted around 100 tree plants and educated students on preserving our environment for future generations.
🤼 Conducted team-building activities and fun events to bring joy and foster unity.
🧑‍🏫 Organized a program to enlighten young minds on the value of education and essential ethics of living.
📚 Extended our support to education by donating over 750 books and 100 file covers to to promote learning and academic growth.

A special and heartfelt thank to our generous supporters, whose contributions made this event a reality. We are deeply grateful for the support of individual donors whose generosity was instrumental in making this event a success.

The 3rd year undergraduates of our department organized a meaningful CSR initiative at Sirisumana Kanishta Vidyalaya, aiming to inspire young students, emphasize the importance of education, and promote environmental sustainability.

Here's what we accomplished together:
🌳 Planted 85 tree plants and educated students on preserving our environment for future generations.
🤼 Conducted team-building activities and fun events to bring joy and foster unity.
🧑‍🏫 Organized a program to enlighten young minds on the value of education and essential ethics of living.

The 3rd year undergraduates of our department organized a meaningful CSR initiative at Aluth Kaduruwewa Kanishta Vidyalaya, aiming to inspire young students, emphasize the importance of education, and promote environmental sustainability.

Here's what we accomplished together:
🌳 Planted 65 tree plants and educated students on preserving our environment for future generations.
🤼 Conducted team-building activities and fun events to bring joy and foster unity.
🧑‍🏫 Organized a program to enlighten young minds on the value of education and essential ethics of living.

A special and heartfelt thank to our generous supporters, whose contributions made this event a reality:
1️⃣ Union Assurance PLC for their generous donation of 300 bags, helping us provide essential items to the students.
