🔧 Exploring Advanced Piping Technologies at Savinda Enterprises (Pvt) Ltd 🚰

NDT 21/22 Batch had the incredible opportunity to visit Savinda Enterprises (Pvt) Ltd, gaining hands-on knowledge about modern piping systems and their applications in civil engineering.

This insightful visit enhanced our understanding of:
✅ Socketed & Flanged Pipes – Key components for efficient water distribution.
✅ Valve Mechanisms – The working principles of air valves and other essential valve types.
✅ Butt Fusion & Electrofusion – Advanced joining techniques ensuring durable and leak-proof connections.

This experience broadened our perspective on the critical role of piping systems in water management and infrastructure. A heartfelt thank you to Savinda Enterprises (Pvt) Ltd for sharing their expertise and giving us a deeper appreciation of these technologies!

🌊 Field Visit to Uyanwatta Lake, Bandaragama 🌳

NDT 21/22 Batch had the privilege of visiting the breathtaking Uyanwatta Lake in Bandaragama, a reservoir that holds an impressive 678,062 cubic meters of water. The lake’s engineering marvels left us inspired, from its 305-meter-long bund to its 23.77-meter trapezoidal spillway, meticulously designed to manage excess water flow during high flood levels.

This educational experience deepened our understanding of essential irrigation concepts:
✅ Sluice Gates – A vital mechanism for controlling water release.
✅ Bund Structure – The backbone of the reservoir, ensuring water containment and stability.
✅ Spillway Levels – Key concepts like full supply level (FSL) and high flood level (HFL).
✅ Burm & Toe Drain – Sloped embankments and drainage systems that provide structural support and manage water pressure.
✅ Toe Filter – Built with coarse aggregate to prevent erosion and seepage, ensuring long-term durability.

We concluded the visit with a heartfelt vote of thanks to the Irrigation Department and our academic staff for sharing their expertise and giving us invaluable insights into the lake’s design and infrastructure.

This field visit was a perfect blend of engineering knowledge, nature, and teamwork. A big shoutout to the NDT 21/22 Batch for making this experience unforgettable! 🎓💧

We had the incredible opportunity to host "Future 24", an inspiring workshop organized by the NDT Civil Community, University of Moratuwa. This event brought together brilliant minds to ignite the passion of our civil engineering students 🔥.

We are incredibly grateful to our esteemed speakers: Dr. Buddhika weerasinghe, Mr. Nandana Amunuthuduwa, Dr. T.A.G. Gunasekara, Mr. Poojitha Uduwana and Mr. Chamara Saumyasiri. Their insightful talks provided invaluable knowledge and practical insights into the latest trends and challenges in the field of civil engineering 📚.
