𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗽 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀' 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗢𝘄𝗻 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
A joyful moment for the 1st-year students of BSc (Hons) Agriculture harvesting their own crops at the end of a full cropping season after tireless care and efforts taken throughout their semester in the fields of the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Gardening. It was an overwhelming series of learning and experience they obtained by cultivating paddy, maize, sorghum, millets, cassava, alocasia, ginger, and turmeric. There is no other joy that can match students enjoying their own harvest. Freshly harvested sweet corn straight from the field indeed added a great vibe to this occasion. Well done, students, and you all did an excellent job. Thank you to the staff members meticulously guiding the students through this academic activity: Dr. Surantha Salgadoe, Dr. Wishwajith Kandegama, Dr. Erandi Wijesinghe, Ms. Amanda Bandara, Ms. Dulani Udagedara, and Ms. Gayan Sajith.

Professor E.M.P. Ekanayake, Vice Chancellor of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka (WUSL), undertook an official visit to Shandong Agricultural University (SDAU), People’s Republic of China, from 15–19 July 2026 as the Guest of Honour at the university’s Annual Research Conference and the official launch of the Journal of Integrative Horticulture (IJH).
The international engagement was organized and coordinated by Dr. W. M. Wishwajith Kandegama, Senior Lecturer, Department of Horticulture and Landscape Gardening, Faculty of Agriculture and Plantation Management, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, whose efforts were instrumental in facilitating the visit and strengthening academic ties between the two institutions.
Wayamba University remains committed to expanding its global partnerships and fostering international collaborations that promote excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and sustainable agricultural development.

𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙮 𝘿𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜: 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙎𝙖𝙡𝙚 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙖𝙨𝙠 𝙗𝙮 𝙃𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨𝙘𝙖𝙥𝙚 𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙯𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙐𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨 The 3rd-year undergraduates of BSc. (Hons) Agriculture in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Gardening successfully completed the lifelong learning activity for the Commercial Nursery Management course. Students developed their own propagation techniques, successfully raised the plants, and conducted agronomic practices to produce a salable plant product. A huge joy and success to witness the learning and engagement of the students. Thank you to the wonderful staff who guided the students through this task Dr.Bhagya Karunathilake, Ms.J.K.W.N. Subashini, Ms.Rashmi Kumarasinghe, and Ms. Parami. Well done, students. The department is proud of you and wish you all the best 👍
