Background Information
Today’s business world is gravitating fast towards scenarios where decision making is based on data that is not so straight forward. No
longer is the case where investment decisions can be deemed optimal just based on traditional financial indicators. Sophisticated analytics dominates decision making in financial capitals of the world like New York, London or Tokyo. Unfortunately not so much of this latest state of the art can be seen in Sri Lanka. We’re still at the infancy of serious business analytics or financial analytics. At the same time many organizations are not realizing the productivity gains possible through optimizing business processes. Having done a comprehensive analysis of Sri Lankan business operations and realizing the potential of Sri Lanka to become the analytic hub of Asia, University of Moratuwa, the premier technical university in Sri Lanka, is embarking on a new journey by establishing a Faculty of Business to address the aforementioned areas – a first of its kind in Sri Lankan state universities. Faculty of Business at University of Moratuwa will be offering the Bachelor of Business Science with 3 specializations: Business Analytics, Business Process Management and Financial Analytics.
