𝐈𝐧 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐰 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐬

It is with profound shock and deep sadness that the Department of Building Economics, University of Moratuwa, mourns the sudden passing of Professor Andrew (Andy) Ross.

Professor Ross was a true friend and an invaluable guide to our department. He served with distinction as an External Reviewer for our BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying and BSc (Hons) in Facilities Management programmes. He also generously lent his expertise as an examiner for postgraduate research theses and as the chair for several progress review panels.

We will always remember him as a wonderful human being. He possessed the rare gift of being able to provide critical, insightful feedback in a manner that was always warm, friendly, and encouraging. He was a genuine mentor who guided us to become better, and his contributions have left a lasting mark on our students and academic staff.

Professor Ross’s dedication to construction education was felt globally, and we were fortunate to be a part of his extensive international collaborations. He was not just a respected colleague but a cherished member of our extended academic family.

He will be dearly missed. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and colleagues at this incredibly difficult time. May he rest in peace.

Congratulations Sachini

Congratulations to Jayalathge Sachini Nimesha on winning the IQSSL Logo Design Competition!

Her creative design has been chosen as the official logo for the upcoming PAQS Annual Congress 2026, which will be hosted by the Institute of Quantity Surveyors Sri Lanka (IQSSL).

Sachini is a Student Member of IQSSL and a talented undergraduate pursuing her BSc Hons in Quantity Surveying degree at the University of Moratuwa.

This competition provided a platform for Sri Lankan Quantity Surveying students to showcase their creativity on an international stage. Participants were tasked with creating a logo that aligns with the congress theme: "Constructing the Evolution: Unleashing Human Intelligence in the Digital World".

As the winner, Sachini will receive a cash prize of Rs. 25,000/-, free admission to the Young QS Conference 2026 in Sri Lanka, and a Certificate of Recognition from IQSSL.

We are proud to have our local talent represent Sri Lanka at this prestigious international event. The PAQS Annual Congress 2026 will bring together over 500 professionals from across the Asia and Western Pacific regions, offering a valuable opportunity for our students to gain international exposure.
