The Transportation Engineering Division – University of Moratuwa is pleased to collaborate with KARSIP, a new international initiative dedicated to strengthening road safety research and knowledge systems in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Led by Henk Stipdonk, Hans Godthelp, and Paul Wesemen, KARSIP aims to address the critical gap in structured local knowledge and research capacity that exists in many LMICs. The initiative focuses on supporting countries to build sustainable knowledge and research infrastructures, enabling evidence-based road safety policies while creating a lasting institutional memory for road safety.

This collaboration with the Transportation Engineering Division – University of Moratuwa is being initiated from TED by Prof. HR Pasindu, with the objective of establishing a Centre of Excellence for Road Safety Research in Sri Lanka. The initiative seeks to strengthen national capacity in road safety research, policy development, and data-driven decision-making.

We look forward to working closely with international experts and local stakeholders to advance safer road systems and support sustainable transport development in Sri Lanka.
