The Department of Transport & Logistics of the Faculty of Engineering University of Moratuwa pioneered the higher education of Transport & Logistics within the state education system by offering the B.Sc. Its graduates have been well received in the industry and over 300 of them are employed as Supply Chain Managers in leading firms across different sectors ranging from manufacturing, garments, ho
spitality, pharmaceuticals, etc. The success of the B.Sc. program has led to continuing requests to offer a Masters level course aimed at supply chain professionals from other degree disciplines and those with professional qualifications. The MBA in Supply Chain Management is a two year part time program offered during week day evenings in Colombo and on Saturdays in Moratuwa. It has been developed on the basis of providing learning outcomes that would enable graduates ‘To Know, Do and Become a MBA’ as opposed to simply doing a MBA. The MBA in Supply Chain Management is designed incorporating diverse knowledge areas through its foundation modules in economics, finance, marketing, human resource management, strategic management, operations management and information technology. It offers a broad range of specialization modules covering strategic supply chain, sustainability of supply chains, supply chain project management, warehousing, procurement, together with aviation, maritime and land transport modules as well. It includes modules on business analytics, a business development project as well as a comprehensive research dissertation. The program is designed targeting Executives, Managers and Professionals who aspire to climb up the corporate ladder by acquiring greater business acumen and strategic thinking, whilst having a specialist edge on Supply Chain Management and Logistics.
