Negombo South International School Network (Negombo Branch) Celebrates Poson Poya with Devotion and Community Spirit.
The Buddhist Union of Negombo South International School Network- Negombo Branch, recently organized a vibrant and spiritually uplifting Poson Poya Day celebration. The event brought together the entire school community, including distinguished guests, teachers, students, and parents, to commemorate the historic arrival of Buddhism to Sri Lanka.
The day’s proceedings were graced by Chief Guest Deshabandu Vidyavisharada Dr. Anushke Perera,School Management,Administration.The spiritual heart of the celebration featured a profound Dhamma sermon delivered by the Venerable Sarana Thero, providing timely guidance to everyone present. Additionally, an insightful Anusasana (spiritual advice) was delivered by the Venerable Gnanakitthi Thero, emphasizing the importance of inculcating the spiritual values in the minds of children at the early stage and parental dedication to produce a religious child.
A beautifully organized cultural program showcased the talents and devotion of both students and teachers. A key highlight was the Buddhabhivandana Bathi Gee Saraniya (devotional songs recital,) which filled the atmosphere with serene melodies and pious reflection.
Demonstrating the Buddhist principle of Dana (generosity), the event featured two thoughtfully organized Dansalas (alms-stalls):
Fish Bun Dansala: Generously organized and managed by the school’s teaching staff.
Biscuits & Ginger Tea Dansala: A heartwarming collaborative effort organized by the Kindergarten (KG), Lower Kindergarten (LKG), and Grade 1 sections, working hand-in-hand with the school's Prefects' Guild to serve warm refreshments to all attendees.
The active participation of parents added to the warmth of the event, making it a memorable celebration of faith, community, and school unity.
