𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗙𝗼𝗖) is the very first computing faculty among state universities, established as the 11th faculty of the prestigious 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗿𝗶 𝗝𝗮𝘆𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗮 (𝗨𝗦𝗝) on December 22nd, 2022. This is the very first and only opportunity for Sri Lankan youth to read for a Bachelor of Computing (Hons) degree in state universities. This article focuses on the 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗛𝗼𝗻𝘀) 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 degree program offered by the FoC. This four-year (Hons) degree program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in the ever-evolving IT industry.
FoC commenced its academic activities in 2023 with the enrollment of the first batch in May 2023, followed by the second intake in April 2024, the third intake in April 2025, and the fourth intake in April 2026.
To be eligible for this degree program, applicants must have obtained at least a credit pass in the G.C.E. (A/L) in one of the following subjects: Combined Mathematics, Physics, or Higher Mathematics, and two “S” passes from any two of the following subjects: Combined Mathematics, Higher Mathematics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or Information & Communication Technology.
The BComp (Hons) in Computer Science study program is designed to meet the increasing demand from both industrial and service sectors while focusing on developing graduates with a deep understanding of computer science and information and communication technology. This study program aims to produce well-rounded professionals meeting international standards, inclusive of CS competency areas as per IEEE/ACM curriculum recommendations as well as the Information Age Skill Set (SFIA) for both local and global workforce requirements.

ශ්රී ලංකාවේ රාජ්ය විශ්වවිද්යාල අතර පළමු පරිගණක පීඨය වන ශ්රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්යාලයේ පරිගණක පීඨය (𝗙𝗼𝗖) 2022 දෙසැම්බර් 22 දින ආරම්භ කරන ලදී. රාජ්ය විශ්වවිද්යාල තුළ Bachelor of Computing (Hons) උපාධියක් සඳහා ඉගෙනීමට ලැබෙන පළමු සහ එකම අවස්ථාව මෙයයි. මෙම ලිපිය මඟින් FoC මඟින් පිරිනමන 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗛𝗼𝗻𝘀) 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 උපාධි පාඨමාලාව පිළිබඳව දැනුවත් කරයි. මෙම වසර 4ක (Hons) උපාධි පාඨමාලාව IT ක්ෂේත්රයේ සාර්ථක වීමට අවශ්ය දැනුම හා කුසලතා ලබා දීමට සැලසුම් කර ඇත.
මෙම පීඨය 2023 මැයි මාසයේ පළමු සිසු කණ්ඩායම සමඟ අධ්යයන කටයුතු ආරම්භ කළ අතර, 2024, 2025 සහ 2026 වසරවල නව සිසු කණ්ඩායම් ඇතුළත් කරමින් මේ වන විට කණ්ඩායම් කිහිපයක් අධ්යයන කටයුතු වල නිරත වේ.
මෙම උපාධි පාඨමාලාව සඳහා ඉල්ලුම් කිරීමට, අපොස උසස් පෙළ විභාගයෙන් සංයුක්ත ගණිතය,භෞතික විද්යාව හෝ උසස් ගණිතය යන විෂයන්ගෙන් එකකට “C” සාමාර්ථයක් සහ,සංයුක්ත ගණිතය ,උසස් ගණිතය, ගණිතය, භෞතික විද්යාව, රසායන විද්යාව හෝ තොරතුරු තාක්ශණය යන විෂයන්ගෙන් දෙකකට “S” සාමාර්ථ ලබා තිබිය යුතුය.
මෙම BComp (Hons) in Computer Science පාඨමාලාව කාර්මික සහ සේවා අංශ දෙකෙහිම වැඩිවන ඉල්ලුම සපුරාලීමට සැලසුම් කර ඇති අතර පරිගණක විද්යාව සහ තොරතුරු සන්නිවේදන තාක්ෂණය පිළිබඳ ගැඹුරු දැනුමක් සහිත උපාධිධාරීන් බිහිකිරීම අරමුණු කරයි. IEEE/ACM විශයමාලා නිර්දේශ සහ SFIA framework අනුව ජාත්යන්තර මට්ටමේ වෘත්තිකයන් බිහිකිරීම මෙම පාඨමාලාවේ අරමුණයි.
