GUIDELINES TO AUTHORS ON SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTs
Abstracts for the Research Conference in Health Sciences 2021 should conform to the following requirements.
ABSTRACT FORMAT
Title of the Abstract: Font – Times New Roman, 14pt, Bold, Sentence case, Centered.
The title of the abstract should be brief but adequately descriptive. The scientific committee reserves the right to modify the title where necessary.
If scientific names are included, they should be written in italics (lower case), and common or vernacular names should be included within parenthesis.
Names of the Authors (s): Font – Times New Roman, 11pt, Regular, Justified
Authors should be listed using the entire surname followed by initial(s). Omit titles, degrees, and academic appointments and do not separate initials with punctuation.
e.g. Rathnayake ABC
The corresponding author should be indicated with an asterisk (*) at the end of the name.
The presenting author’s name should be underlined.
Author (s) affiliation: Font -Times New Roman,11pt, Italics, Centered
If the authors are from several institutes/departments, they should be numbered using a superscript at the end of the name of each author and the numbers should be corresponded to the institutional address of the respective authors.
Corresponding Author: Font- Times New Roman, 10 pt, Italics, Centered
Corresponding author’s email address should be specified, prefixed by an asterisk (*).
(e.g., corresponding author (email: [email protected])
Abstract Layout: Font – Times New Roman, 12pt, Single space
The body of the abstract should be organised as outlined below. Abstract should be of one page.
Background: A brief description of the study.
Objectives: A statement of the purpose of the study.
Methods & Materials: A brief description of the study design.
Results: A summary of the results presented in sufficient detail to support the conclusion. Data must be presented in the abstract. Statements such as “the results will be presented” or “other data will be presented to support….” will result in automatic rejection of the abstract.
Conclusions: A statement of the conclusions based on the data presented.
Acknowledgement: Funding agencies only.
Scientific names should be italicized and International code of Nomenclatures should be followed.
SI units should be used.
Use only standard abbreviations.
Do not include graphs, tables, figures, diagrams or references.
The number of words is limited strictly to 300 excluding the title, authors, affiliations and acknowledgement. Each word or number is counted as one word whether it is one character or 10 characters long. Units will count as part of the number with which they are attached.
The author/s should take the responsibility for the research work and the contents reported in the abstract.
The Scientific committee reserves the right to make alterations and to edit text to improve presentation.
Abstracts not conforming to the above instructions will be rejected.Accepted abstracts will be published in the abstracts proceeding.
Abstracts research related to human or animal should include an approval obtained from a recognized ethical review committee (A certified copy of the ethics approval should be attached).

Research Conference in Health Sciences 2021

RCHS 2021 is organized by the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura and will be held on 31st March 2021. The Faculty is proud to organize this inaugural virtual forum facilitating the sharing of research findings in a range of Allied and other health science disciplines. The conference theme this year is ‘Fostering healthcare needs through research and innovation’ and aims to showcase the translational nature of the various research conducted by health science disciplines to promote healthcare in Sri Lanka. As such, research findings related to an array of tracks will be brought to one platform on this day.

We invite you to submit your research related to the following tracks or any other health-related topic before the submission deadline.

Join hands with us to show the world your contribution to promote healthcare in our country. Let’s join on this day with a unified goal of ‘Fostering healthcare needs through research and innovation’! Abstract submission deadline 15 January 2021!!
