දකුණු ආසියාවේ කාබන් උදාසීනකරණ සංකල්පය සම්පූර්ණ කළ ප්‍රථම විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය බවට නිල වශයෙන් පත් වීමට ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයට අද හැකියාව ලැබිණි. ඒ, විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය මඟින්, පුත්තලම් දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ කරුවලගස්වැව ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම් කොට්ඨාසයේ අක්කර දහසක භූමි ප්‍රමාණයක් තුළ දියත් කෙරෙනු ලබන වන ප්‍රතිස්ථාපන ව්‍යාපෘතිය සඳහා ජාත්‍යන්තර ප්‍රමිතිකරණය යටතේ ISO 14064-2:2019 තත්ත්ව සහතිකය අද දිනයේ දී හිමි වීමත් සමඟ ය.

2022 වසරේ ඔක්තෝම්බර් මාසයේ දී ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය ISO 14064-2:2019 ප්‍රමිතිකරණයට අනුව හරිතාගාර වායු විමෝචනය ශුන්‍ය කළ දකුණු ආසියාවේ පළමු විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය බවට පත් වූ අතර එයට අදාළ තත්ත්ව සහතිකය අද දිනයේ දී විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයට හිමිවිය.

ජාත්‍යන්තරය තුළ සුවිශේෂී වැදගත්කමක් උසුලන මෙම ජයග්‍රහණය සමඟ ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය, දකුණු ආසියාවේ ප්‍රමුඛතම හරිත විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයක් ලෙසත්, ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සියළු විශ්වවිද්‍යාල අතරින් තිරසාර පරිසරයක් සඳහා කැපවුණු පුරෝගාමී විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය බවටත් පත්වනු ඇත. ඒ හා සමඟම තිරසාරත්වයට අදාළ ශ්‍රේණිගත කිරීම් තුළ ද විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයට තවදුරටත් ඉදිරියට යා හැකිවනු ඇත.
