Career Guidance Unit - South Eastern University of Sri Lanka This is the official page of Career Guidance Unit of South Eastern University of Sri Lanka. To promote and provide capable graduates in Sri Lanka. V.K.

Career Guidance is an interpersonal process designed to assist individuals with Career Development problems. Throughout its history, career guidance has been known by a number of different names, including Vocational Guidance, Occupational Counseling, and Vocational Counseling etc. In general Career Guidance is the assistance given to students and job seekers in choosing and preparing for a suitable job. As part of the Education Reform proposals Career Guidance had been identified as a priority and since 1998 practically every University had started some activities in this regard. To perform the Career Guidance activities like other Universities the Career Guidance Unit was established in 1998 at our University

The overall objective of the project of which this contract will be a part is as follows:

To support capacity building of graduates for the non government partners in the field of employment. Serve as a link between university, private sector and government of Sri Lanka. Produce and develop a proficiency graduates for the Sri Lankan community as well as international community. To assist providing internationally recognized graduates. To support development of lifelong career guidance system, which services will be available to SEUSL students, based on their needs in education and occupation selection, in accordance with Sri Lankan employment policy. Turning Business Ideas into Viable Business Plans! 💡📊

The third and final day of the Brain into Business Programme 2026 was successfully conducted for undergraduate students of South Eastern University of Sri Lanka, organized by the Career Guidance Unit (CGU) in collaboration with the National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA).

📌 Day 03 focused on:

🔹 Management & HR Planning – organizational structure, roles and responsibilities
🔹 Financial Planning – project cost, cash flow and working capital
🔹 Financial Analysis – income statements, balance sheets and ratio analysis
🔹 Feasibility Analysis – financial, market and operational feasibility
🔹 Risk Identification & Mitigation
🔹 Business Registration & Institutional Support
🔹 Finalization of Business Plans
🔹 Q&A, Feedback & Future Guidance

Through interactive learning, practical activities and expert guidance, participants worked towards transforming their ideas into complete and practical business plans.

🎯 The Final Outcome:
Participants completed and submitted their business plans, gaining practical knowledge and skills to explore entrepreneurship and develop viable business ventures.

The second day of the Brain into Business Programme was successfully completed with enthusiastic participation and hands-on learning by undergraduate students.

💡 Day 02 focused on Experiential Learning & Business Plan Development, giving participants valuable practical exposure to the realities of starting and managing a business.

📌 Key Activities & Learning Areas:
🔹 Real Business Experience – Buying, selling, costing & customer handling

🔹 Record Keeping & Transaction Analysis

🔹 Introduction to Business Plan Development

🔹 Marketing Plan – Market analysis, customers, pricing, promotion & strategy

🔹 Production & Operations Planning

🔹 Costing and Resource Identification

🔹 Reflection, Experience Sharing & Group Presentations

✨ The day provided an excellent opportunity for students to transform entrepreneurial ideas into practical business concepts through experiential learning.

📊 Day 02 Output:

Participants developed draft Marketing and Production/Operations Plans as important components of their business plans.

🚀 “Brain Into Business” – Upadhidhari Vyawasayaka Udanaya 2026 🚀

The Career Guidance Unit of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA), successfully conducted the “Brain Into Business – Upadhidhari Vyawasayaka Udanaya 2026” programme on 21 September 2026.

The programme provided an inspiring platform for undergraduates to explore entrepreneurship, innovation, business opportunities, and entrepreneurial thinking, encouraging them to transform their ideas into meaningful business ventures.

The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Ajith Thamboo, Director, Career Guidance Unit, South Eastern University of Sri Lanka. He warmly welcomed the distinguished guests, resource persons, and participating students, while emphasizing the importance of developing an entrepreneurial mindset, creativity, and innovation among university students.
