Soil is the foundation of life. Over ๐๐% ๐จ๐ ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐จ๐จ๐ depends on it, and it provides most of the essential nutrients plants need to grow. Yet, climate change and human activities are degrading this vital resource, reducing water availability, soil fertility, and even the nutrient quality of our food.โฃ

This yearโs theme, โ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก๐ฒ ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฌ,โ reminds us that soil isnโt only found in farms and forests. Even in urban areas, healthy soil plays a key role in absorbing rainwater, regulating temperature, storing carbon, and improving air quality.โฃ
But when city soils are sealed under concrete and asphalt, these natural functions disappearโmaking our cities hotter, more polluted, and more prone to flooding.โฃ
โฃ
On this World Soil Day, letโs rethink our urban spaces from the ground up. Letโs promote greener, more resilient, and healthier cities for future generations.โฃ
