The Induction Ceremony of the 89th President of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon, Professor Emeritus A. D. L. Chandani Perera, was held on the 26th June, 2026 at Hotel Queensbury, Kaduwela. The occasion was graced by Chief Guest Professor Ananda Kumara, Vice Chancellor of the Lanka Nippon BizTech Institute, and Guest of Honour Professor Channa De Silva, Head of the Department of Chemistry and Physics at Western Carolina University, USA, marking the commencement of Professor Perera's term as President of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon.

The Institute of Chemistry Ceylon recognized excellence in research and dedicated service during the 55th Annual Sessions. The Kandiah Memorial Award – 2026 for Applied Chemistry was awarded to Ms. Saranya Selvaraj Lavan, while the Sultanbawa Award for Research in Chemistry – 2025 was awarded to Mr. Pasindu Dilshan Perera. The Early Career Chemist Award was presented to Professor Medha J. Gunaratna, University of Kelaniya, and Dr. Chandima J. Narangoda, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Furthermore, the College of Chemical Sciences Researcher of the Year Award – 2026 was presented to Dr. Sameera R Gunatilake. Also, in recognition of long-standing service to the Institute, the Long Service Award was presented to Mr. W. Ravindra R. Perera.

The Inauguration Ceremony of the 55th Annual Sessions and the 85th Anniversary Celebration of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon was held on 26 June 2026 at the newly established Malabe Campus of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon. The event was graced by Chief Guest Professor Emeritus A. P. de Silva, Department of Chemistry at Queen's University Belfast, and Guest of Honour Ms. Udesha Bopitiya, Managing Director of the Lanka Mineral and Chemicals Group. During the ceremony, awards were presented to recipients of the Inter-school and Inter-university competitions, College award winners, and Corporate Members of the Institute in recognition of their outstanding achievements.

The Distinguished Service Award, presented in recognition of outstanding contributions to the activities and development of the Institute, was awarded to Professor Janitha A. Liyanage and Professor Emeritus Ramanee D. Wijesekera. The Yeoman Service Award, which recognizes the Chartered Chemists who have rendered exemplary honorary service and significant contributions to the Institute's educational programmes, was presented to Professor H.
