🎓 INAUGURATION OF INTEGRATED NVQ LEVEL 4 CERTIFICATE COURSES – 2026

The Plastics & Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka (PRISL) proudly commenced its Integrated NVQ Level 4 Certificate Courses today, 15th August 2026 , marking another important milestone in strengthening professional and technical education for Sri Lanka’s plastics and rubber industry.

The inauguration programme brought together the PRISL leadership, academic team and past students to welcome and guide the new generation of learners entering the polymer industry.

The programme included:

🔹 Welcome Address & Introduction to PRISL by Mr. Janadara Jayawarna, Vice President – PRISL
🔹 Briefing on the RISL Administrative Structure by Mr. Chaminda Perera, Director General – PRISL
🔹 Introduction to the Certificate Programmes by Dr. Chandani Somaratne, Director Education – PRISL
🔹 Inspirational addresses by successful past students, including Mr. K.W.G. Madusanka , Diploma in Polymer 2024 and Production Specialist of the Year 2025 Award recipient

🎓 PRISL Convocation 2026 – Celebrating Excellence in Polymer Education!

On 4th August 2026, The Plastics & Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka (PRISL) proudly hosted its Convocation Ceremony at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) , honouring the achievements of 191 graduating students who successfully completed their Certificate, Diploma, and Higher Diploma programmes.

The ceremony was graced by our distinguished Chief Guest, Professor Jagath K. Premachandra, Senior Professor at the University of Moratuwa, who delivered an inspiring Convocation Address and presented awards to our academic excellence recipients.

We were also honoured to have the presence of the PRISL Executive Committee and distinguished dignitaries from the polymer industry.

The Convocation marked a significant milestone for PRISL, which has been the premier professional institution advancing Sri Lanka's polymer science, plastics, and rubber industries for over 65 years — since its establishment in 1960.

Graduates received qualifications at NVQ Level 4 (Certificate), NVQ Level 5 (Diploma), and NVQ Level 6 (Higher Diploma), reflecting the comprehensive progression pathway that PRISL offers in polymer education.

The ceremony featured a traditional procession with drummers and Kandyan dancers, the ceremonial lighting of the oil lamp, and the presentation of certificates across multiple disciplines:

Strengthening Industry Collaboration Between Sri Lanka and India

The Plastics & Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka (PRISL) was proudly represented at the Inaugural Ceremony of the Complete Safety & Security Expo, Compack Expo, and Logimat Expo 2026, held at the Chennai Trade Centre, India.

Our President, Mr. K.A.C. Vidyarathna, attended the event as a Guest of Honour, while Director General, Mr. Chaminda Perera, participated as an invited delegate representing PRISL.

The event brought together industry leaders, manufacturers, technology providers, and business professionals from across the region. During the visit, several productive discussions were held with key industry stakeholders and organizational leaders to explore opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange, technology transfer, skills development, and strengthening partnerships between Sri Lanka and India in the plastics, rubber, packaging, logistics, and manufacturing sectors.
