The University of Vocational Technology (UoVT) proudly marks a transformative chapter in higher education with the official policy decision to offer all undergraduate degrees as comprehensive 4-Year Honours Degrees.

This strategic transition elevates our academic standards in line with national and international qualification frameworks, ensuring our graduates possess the advanced technical competence, research rigor, and industry specialization needed to excel globally.

All incoming students progress directly through the 4-year Honours degree framework, with the flexible option of a voluntary exit after Year 3 with a General Degree.

This policy advancement directly reinforces our mission to empower Sri Lanka’s Production Economy with highly skilled, career-ready professionals and technology leaders.

The new official website of the University of Vocational Technology (UoVT) has been evaluated by the LK Domain Registry for its compliance with the minimum required standards, following an assessment conducted in June 2026. 💻✨

Under the guidance of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Prasanna Premadasa, this achievement was made possible through the valuable support and dedication of Mr. Viraj Sameera, the IT Division, the Media Division, the Academic and Non-Academic Staff, and the students of UoVT. Their collective contribution to the development of this website is highly appreciated. 🙏👏

After a long period without a website that met the required standards, it is a matter of great pride that this new platform was developed within a short period through the hard work, commitment, and dedication of our university community. 🚀

This evaluation marks an important milestone in strengthening UoVT’s digital presence and reflects what we can achieve when we work together towards a common goal. 🌟

We are proud to announce a landmark initiative designed to ensure that no student’s academic success is hindered by a lack of technology.

We recognise that digital tools are not just a luxury; they are an essential requirement for participation in the modern academic landscape, particularly within our technology-focused degree programmes.

The 𝐔𝐨𝐕𝐓 𝐋𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐋𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞 is established to support students who genuinely require digital access but face difficulties acquiring a personal laptop. This initiative, guided by transparency, accountability, and equity, directly addresses the needs of students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds or remote areas. Our goal is to ensure that every student has an equal opportunity to thrive.

By removing the financial barrier of hardware ownership, we are reaffirming our position as Sri Lanka's leading institution for vocational technology education. We don't just teach technology; we provide the means to master it.

UoVT is committed to creating a supportive, accessible environment that fosters academic excellence. We believe that by empowering our students today, we are building the skilled workforce that will drive Sri Lanka’s economic and technological growth tomorrow.

Join a university that actively invests in your future success. The UoVT Laptop Lending Scheme will primary focus on first-year undergraduate students commencing their studies. Join UoVT, where your ambition meets our support.
