The free paper titled “Birth Preferences among Primigravida Mothers in Ratnapura” was presented at the SLCOG Sessions 2026 by its first author, K. V. D. T. N. B. Wijayagunarathna, representing a group of medical students from the Faculty of Medicine.

The research team also included N. M. J. Hansika, H. H. H. Sooriyabandara, W. D. Sandamali, and W. A. P. V. S. Kavinda, with the study conducted under the supervision of Dr Oshadhi Nallaperuma.

An inspection of the Professorial Building was conducted by representatives of the Faculty of Medicine and the contractors.

Construction of the building has now been completed, and it will soon be formally handed over to the Faculty of Medicine, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. Clinical services are expected to commence in a stepwise manner from October.

MEET Workshop: University Teaching in the Era of AI

A Medical Education Engagement and Training (MEET) Workshop on this timely topic was conducted on 19 August 2026 by Prof. Chalinda K. Beneragama, an experienced academic and educational leader from the University of Peradeniya. The interactive session explored the evolving role of artificial intelligence in university teaching and its meaningful and responsible integration into education.

The workshop was organised by the Medical Education Unit, Faculty of Medicine, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. We sincerely thank Prof. Beneragama for sharing his expertise and the academic staff members for their active participation.
