අපි ලස්සනම අපි සතුටින් ඉන්න වෙලාවට. මම ඒක සෑහෙන්න විශ්වාස කරන දෙයක්. මට එහෙම හිතෙන්න ලොකුම හේතුව තමයි මම සතුටින්ම ඉන්න වෙලාවට මගේ ගන්න පින්තූරවලට තමයි මම හුඟක්ම ආස. මම මේක කියන්නේ ආඩම්බරයකින්වත්, මාන්නයකින්වත් නෙවෙයි. මට හිතෙනවා අපි සතුටින්ම ඉන්න වෙලාවල් වල අභ්‍යන්තරයෙන් එන සතුට අපේ අපේ බාහිර ඉරියව්වලට අමුතුම ආකාරයේ එළියක් දිස්නයක් එක් කරනවා කියලා.

හැබැයි ඒ වගේම ඒ සතුටු අවස්ථාවල, අපි අපේ උපරිම ශක්තියේ ඉන්න අවස්ථාවල අපි මතක තියාගන්න ඕනේ අපි කවුරුත් මිනිස්සුන් කියන එක. අපේ මුදුන් මුල්.

මෑතකදී මට හම්බුනා මම පුංචි කාලෙ ඉඳලා ආදර්ශයට ගත්ත ආදරණීය අපේ ඉස්කෝලෙ (Sussex College - Ratnapura ) අක්කා කෙනෙක්. ඇය ආචාර්ය Choshani Dalukdeniya . අපි ගිය ඉස්කෝලෙන් අපිට එක අවස්ථාවක ඇරයුම් ලැබිලා තිබුණා, ආරාධිත අමුත්තන් වශයෙන්. මෙතැනදී මට ඒ අක්කාව අවුරුදු ගානකට පස්සේ ආයෙමත් හම්බ වුණා..

ඒ වෙනකොට එයා ඉස්කෝලෙන් හොඳට ඉගෙන ගෙන හොඳ උපාධියක් කරලා බ්‍රිතාන්‍යයෙන් පශ්චාත් උපාධිය පවා කරලා තිබුණේ. උසස් අධ්‍යාපන කටයුතු සේරම නිමා කරලා ඇය සබරගමුව විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ කථිකාචාර්යවරියක් විදිහට ඇගේ රැකියාව කරගෙන යන බව මට දැනගන්නට ලැබුණා. ඇයි මට වඩා අවුරුදු කිහිපයක්ම වැඩිමල් වුනත් එදා වගේම කිසිම වෙනසක් නැතිව, චාම් වක් සන්සුන්ව කතා කරමින් හිටියා.

නමුත් අන් අයට වඩා ඇය තුළ තිබුණා හරිම ලොකු වෙනසක්. තමයි ඇයගේ නිහතමානීකම. ඒ ගැන මම එයත් එක්ක කතා කරද්දි ඇය මට විශේෂ කාරණාවක් කිව්වා. ඒ තමයි එවකට අපේ ඉස්කෝලෙ හිටපු සිංහල ගුරුතුමිය ඇයට කියලා දීපු පුංචි පාඩමක්. ඒ තමයි "වී කරල පැහෙන්න පැහෙන්න පොළොවට බරව වෙනවා කියන එක" ඒවාගේම අපිත් ඉහලට ඉහලට යන්න යන්න නිහතමානී විය යුතුයි කියන එක ඇය හරි ලස්සන හිනාවකින් මාත් එක්ක කිව්වා. ඇය ඉතිහාසගත වන්නේ ජාත්‍යාන්තර පාසලක අධ්‍යාපනය ලබා රාජ්‍ය විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයක ආචාර්‍යවරියක් වූ පලමුවැන්නා ලෙසය.

එදා මෙදා තුර මම වේදිකාවක් මත හෝ මගේ උපරිම ශක්තියකින්, confidence එකෙන් ඉන්න අවස්ථාවල ඒ කාරණාව හැම නිතරම හිතට ගන්නවා. අපි කොයි තරම් උසස් තනතුරුවල හිටියත් අවසානයේ අපි මිනිස්සු කියන දේ සහ අපි තුළ නිහතමානී බව නැත්නම් අපගේ උසස් බවේ කිසිම වැදගත්කමක් නැති බවට හැම නිතරම පසක් වෙනවා.

ඉතින් මට කියන්නට ඕන වුණේ, ජීවිතයේ සතුට වෙනුවෙන් අපි අපේ උපරිම ශක්තියෙන් හරහා අපේ හැකියාවන් ඔස්සේ ඉදිරියට ඉදිරියට යන ගමනේදී අමතක නොකළ යුතුම දෙයක් තමයි නිහතමානී බව කියන එක. ඒ මතක් කිරීමත් එක්ක මම සතුටින්ම ඉන්න මේ මෑතකදි ගත්ත පුංචි රූපයක් එකතු කරන්නට හිතුනා.

For the first time in the history of International Schools sector, the Aesthetic Circle of the Past Pupils Association of Sussex College - Ratnapura has created a heartfelt song dedicated to our beloved school. This song is a tribute to the memories, friendships, and the unbreakable bond we all share with our school .

The song was beautifully composed by our former Madam Principal, Madara Kodagoda, making it even more special and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our current principal Mr. Upali Meegahapola, for his invaluable support and encouragement in making this historical project a success.
