Hello!
We are 4th year Biomedical science undergraduates. We have chosen the topic “Assessing the Most Popular Skin Antiseptic Among Healthcare Professionals and Comparison and Optimization of 70% Alcohol, Povidone Iodine, Chlorhexidine for the Evaluation of the Effectiveness for Skin Asepsis".
Improper skin cleaning practices prior to invasive medical procedure may lead to infections at the site of medical procedures and blood withdrawal. Many factors cause the rise of infections including Improper aseptic technique.
Currently the most commonly used skin antiseptics include 70% alcohol, povidone iodine and chlorhexidine. In Sri Lanka a mixture of povidone iodine and ethyl alcohol is used which is costly and is not found to be used as commonly in most developed countries. In this survey study we will be evaluating the awareness, attitudes and practices on skin disinfection using 70% alcohol, povidone iodine, chlorhexidine to compare the usage and effectiveness of each antiseptic by healthcare professionals.
We kindly invite you to be a part of this research.
