Senator James Emmanuel Nuquay Presents Waste Cans to Kakata City Corporation

Margibi County Senator James Emmanuel Nuquay has made a significant contribution to the Kakata City Corporation by presenting several empty drums intended for waste collection.

During the presentation on June 6,2026, Campbell Dennis II Chief of Staff to Senator Nuquay, emphasized that these drums were provided to support the corporation's recent decongestion efforts in the city. "Senator Nuquay is committed to improving the living conditions in Kakata and believes that proper waste management is crucial, Dennis stated.

Moses Dennis, another representative, expressed the senator's appreciation for the work being done by the Kakata City Corporation and promised ongoing support for future initiatives.

Kakata City Mayor Gbarngawoe E. Seyboe, accepted the drums with enthusiasm, pledging to distribute them to necessary areas throughout the city.

On May 30, 2026, Mayor Gbarngawoe E. Seyboe expressed heartfelt gratitude to the citizens of Margibi County who participated in the Kakata Day celebration.

This annual event commemorates the enactment of Kakata City as a municipality by the national legislature on May 26, 1972. Due to scheduling conflicts, the celebration was held later, drawing attendees from across Liberia.

Red Cross Society and Kakata City Corporation Join Forces for Cleanup and Awareness Campaign

In a collaborative effort, the Liberia National Red Cross, alongside the Kakata City Corporation, successfully concluded a day of awareness and cleanup activities in Kakata in preparation for the upcoming Kakata Day Celebration.

A dedicated group of young volunteers armed with brooms, hoes, and shovels worked diligently to clean the administrative building and various parts of the city.

Their efforts aimed not only to beautify the area but also to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean environment.

Kakata City Manager, N. Reuben Blackie, expressed his appreciation for the volunteers and highlighted the significance of the initiative. "This cleanup was meant to enhance the appearance of the corporation's compound and to encourage everyone to join us tomorrow, Saturday, May 30, 2026, for the celebration," he stated.

Mr. Blackie extended his gratitude to the Red Cross for their commitment and hard work, which contributed to giving Kakata a renewed look.

He also called on all community members, business owners, security personnel, National legislators, former lawmakers, and past city mayors to participate in the Kakata Day festivities.

The City Manager assured residents that all preparations are in place for the day’s events, which will kick off at 9 AM and continue throughout the day. Everyone is encouraged to come together to celebrate and enjoy the occasion.

KCC Staff involve in Critical accident🙆🏽

We want to inform you that Armstrong Bondoo involvement in a critical accident tonight.

Armstrong, the Financial Officer of Kakata City Corporation, was on his way home when his vehicle collided with a taxi.

The authorities quickly rushed him to JFK hospital for urgent medical attention. As a corporation, we are all praying for Armstrong's speedy recovery and sending him positive thoughts and well wishes.

Margibi County Authorities Launch Decongestion Initiative in Kakata

Kakata, Margibi County ... In a significant move to address traffic congestion and improve public safety, Margibi County authorities, led by Superintendent O. O Jay Godfavor Morris Jr., convened a meeting with local business owners and citizens on May 18.

The gathering aimed to discuss a comprehensive plan to decongest the main street of Kakata.

Superintendent Morris emphasized the need for county leadership to enforce regulations that will support the city corporation in maintaining order.

Key points discussed during the press conference included:

Prohibition of Alcohol Sales: Selling alcoholic beverages on the streets of Kakata is strictly prohibited. All vendors are required to relocate to the Kakata General Market.

Removal of Street Obstructions: Business owners must remove all containers and materials blocking the road, particularly those located under the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) wires.

Traffic Regulations for Public Transport: Commercial vehicles (caras) are not allowed to pick up passengers on the main street or stop for purchases. Violators will face penalties under traffic laws.

Clear Pathways for Pedestrians: The main street must remain unobstructed at all times to ensure safe passage for pedestrians.

Orderly Parking for Motorcyclists: Motorcyclists are instructed to park in designated areas and avoid obstructing main junctions.

In collaboration with local security forces and the Kakata City Corporation, the county leadership aims to implement these changes swiftly. Additionally, there are plans to partner with the Ministry of Public Works to install speed breakers, which are expected to reduce the frequency of vehicular accidents.

To further enhance road safety, annual training sessions for drivers and motorcyclists will be conducted, focusing on accident prevention and responsible road usage.

Superintendent Morris urged all citizens to adhere to these mandates, stating that the decongestion initiative is a directive from the central government and must not be overlooked.

The implementation of these changes began immediately, marking a new chapter for traffic management in Kakata.
