Dear UMU Community,
It has come to our attention that there are several illegitimate websites and fake social media accounts claiming to represent UMU and offering various programs. These fraudulent entities are not affiliated with UMU in any way and are designed to deceive unsuspecting individuals.
**Warning Signs:**
1. **Unsolicited Messages:** Be cautious of receiving unsolicited messages promoting UMU programs or services on social media platforms.
2. **Suspicious URLs:** Verify the website URL carefully. Legitimate UMU websites typically have "umu-tech.org" in their domain name.
3. **Poor Website Design:** Fraudulent websites often have poorly designed layouts, spelling errors, and lack official UMU branding.
4. **Pressure to Act Quickly:** Scammers may pressure you to sign up or make payments quickly to secure your spot in their programs.
**Protect Yourself:**
1. **Verify Official Channels:** Always verify the authenticity of UMU programs and services through official UMU channels such as the university's official website, email addresses, or verified social media accounts.
2. **Do Your Research:** Take the time to research the organization offering the program or service. Check for reviews, testimonials, and accreditation.
