Alpha Kappa Alpha was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C on January 15, 1908, making it the oldest Greek letter organization established in America by women of color. The sorority has a membership of more than 250,000 women in over 900 chapters in the United States and several other countries. Women may join through undergraduate chapters at a college or university or th

ey may also join through a graduate chapter after acquiring an undergraduate or advanced college degree. Cooper but went dormant in the 1980’s due to the uprising of the coup in Liberia. In 2010, the chapter was reactivated by the following members: H.E Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Dr. Dawn Cooper Barnes, Meatta Hage, Clavenda Parker, Chiquita Johnson, Dr. Jean Manning Bell and Candace Eastman.

Under our CHIPP program, we have partnered with Rosetta Steps Education Center on a school feeding program. Through this program, 80 plus students currently receive nutritious meals three times a week with more students signing up on a daily basis. The cost of enrollment for parents is only USD 3.50 per month. This amount is used towards preparation and logistics. All meal items are fully funded by the Alpha Kappa Sorority.
