🦾 Jūnija izskaņā norisinājās «HPC Atvērtā nedēļā», kuras ietvaros visiem interesentiem bija izdevība iepazīties ar iespējām, ko sniedz superskaitļošana jeb augstas veiktspējas skaitļošana (high-performance computing).

👉 Pasākuma ietvaros uzņēmumu pārstāvji demonstrēja dažādus praktiskus HPC pielietojuma piemērus, tāpat arī tika apskatīts superskaitļošanas pielietojums pētniecībā un akadēmiskajā vidē.

🤝 Pasākumu organizēja HPC kompetences centrs Latvijā SuperS EuroHPC projekta «Nacionālie kompetences centri EuroHPC» (EuroCC) ietvaros sadarbībā ar Rīgas Tehniskās universitātes HPC centru un LU Skaitliskās modelēšanas institūts.

RTU's HPC Center is one of the partners of European Center of Excellence in Exascale Computing - RAISE.

CoE RAISE covers both academic and industrial aspects in a balanced way by uniting partners from academia, i.e., internationally renowned universities and research institutions, and from industry.

Record number of participants from Latvia registered for the Global Galaxy Course that took place last week. Please visit https://shiltemann.github.io/global-galaxy-course/ to see the numbers from all over the world.
Galaxy is an Internet platform for biomedical data processing that provides a wide range of bioinformatics tools. When using Galaxy, there is no need for specific knowledge of the Linux command line and HPC systems.

You can now try the Galaxy platform at RTU HPC Center.

Congratulations to MikroTik's co-owner and chairman of the board, patron John Martin Tully with the acquired Latvian citizenship, which has been awarded to him on the merits of the state.

MikroTikis actively involved in charity alongside the main activity by making large donations. The largest project that has been carried out through their financial support is at RTU HPC center - improved speed of the data network and improved data storage infrastructure, which opens up opportunities for Latvian scientists to carry out a larger amount of data processing, for example, by analyzing data from the human genome or sars-cov-2 virus genome.

Apsveicam MikroTik līdzīpašnieku un valdes priekšsēdētāju, mecenātu Džonu Martinu Talliju ar iegūto Latvijas pilsonību, kas viņam piešķirta par nopelniem valsts labā.

SIA ‘’Mikrotīkls’’ līdztekus pamatdarbībai aktīvi iesaistās labdarībā, veicot apjomīgus ziedojumus.

Arī Rīgas Tehniskā universitāte (RTU) ir viena no izglītības iestādēm, kas pateicoties SIA ‘’Mikrotīkls’’ dāsnajam atbalstam, ir spējusi attīstīt un celt inženierzinātņu jomu līmeni Latvijā. Viens no projektiem, ko RTU ir izdevies īstenot, ir RTU Bērnu un jauniešu universitāte – vieta, kuras mērķis ir veicināt bērnu un jauniešu interesi par zinātni un tehnoloģijām, kā arī atklāt viņiem nākotnes studiju un karjeras iespējas inženierzinātņu jomās.

Bet lielākais projekts, ko ir izdevies īstenot ar sniegtā finansiālā atbalsta palīdzību, ir RTU HPC centrs. Centrs ir uzlabojis datu tīkla ātrumu un pilnveidojis datu glabāšanas infrastruktūru, kas paver iespējas Latvijas zinātniekiem veikt lielāka apjoma datu apstrādi, piemēram, analizējot cilvēka genoma vai SARS-CoV-2 vīrusa genoma datus.

Riga Technical University/HPC centre will be representing Latvia in recently awarded EU H2020 project EOSC-Nordic which aims to foster & advance the take-up of the European Open Science Cloud ( ) at regional level by coordinating the EOSC relevant initiatives taking place in Nordic and Baltic countries.
